ELARA.FM josh interviewed Buddy Durress (and Pete Davidsons mom for some reason?) from Rikers. Haven’t listened yet but definitely interested
I mean that’s a take I guess there wasn’t any other opinions in those 30 pages? Feel like usually it’s polarizing stuff that generates pages like that
I just found it to be okay I guess. The ending was wild tho. But I was just anxious for the whole movie and it was chaotic and overwhelming and had so much behavior that I abhor I guess I should say I had semi high expectations bc I saw a lot of people love it
I didn’t think it was great because I didn’t think it connected all of the pieces and ideas they had going for it all that well
It’s great. I should watch it again. The Safdies are great at playing with heavy ideas and incredibly volatile atmosphere, even if all the threads don’t connect it’s a pretty solid experience.
I mean I love a good movie that can induce some anxiety but without all the shittiness. I feel like they used a lot going on to cover up the fact that it didn’t..go anywhere? (I mean there were parts that in my opinion didn’t get fleshed out at all or were thrown in). Definitely didn’t need to be 2 hours lol
Did you watch Good Time? imo it’s a much better film that justifies its 2 hour runtime more than this
I like Good Time a lot more, but Gems is still fantastic. I can't blame somebody for not liking either movie, the movies are definitely abrasive and jarring. But I'm all for it. Can't wait to see what they do next
I didn’t dislike this movie cuz it was absrasive, i disliked it because I didn’t find very interesting. I didn’t feel like it had a lotta meat on the bones. Even with Adam Sandlers’ amazing performance, I thought his character was so bland. it reminded me of American Beauty or something in how it’s “provocative” but not actually all that thoughtful. great music tho
