This was grueling in a very good way. Fantastic performances all around. Safdies are the real deal. I didn't like it as much as Good Time, but that's also one of my all time favorites so I'm not surprised. I wonder how hard it was to get the NBA to sign off on this?
I can't believe Jonah Hill was supposed to play Howard, I can't see him in that role at all. Sandler was made for that part
My friend said he saw In an interview that the original person for Garnetts role they wanted was Amare Stoudemire
This is the most stressful movie I’ve ever watched. I hated it for a good chunk before I realized I loved it.
Also, between the drunk guy snoring on and off behind me the whole movie, the couple next to me who had to make sure EVERYONE knew how much they didn’t like it, and a sold out Christmas audience, this was a terrible environment to see a movie in...but maybe a perfect one for this?
I kind of hated this movie until the little speech Idina gives him at the dinner happens and what they were doing all sort of clicked into place.
there were only 10 people in my theater and most were chill (an old couple quietly walked out an hour into the movie) but some clown was vaping and I wanted him dead
It cracked me up every time they showed Howard texting and it’s just a mess of typos and random caps. Just some old guy struggling with technology
The copy of this I have is kinda low quality, gonna wait until a better version is out there Wish I could pay money to see this at a theater though. Will probably wait until it comes out officially and I can rent a HD copy or something
I feel like the only one who wasn't anxious during this, probably because Howard was such a piece of shit I was like please let the shit hit the fan he deserves it I know the Safdie brothers are Jewish and were playing around with Jewish stereotypes with Howard but it still made me uncomfortable at times, as did Lakeith saying the n word every other word like I don't think humans talk like that it was also weird that his last name was Ratner because Brett Ratner is such a POS when Idina was at the high school play I kept expecting everyone to say OMG it's Maureen Julia the MVP, it's crazy that she and Arno's goons were complete unknowns I also liked how they showed the opal's power over Howard and KG worth if for the inevitable gif of Adam Sandler saying I'm gonna cum
The cast they talk about on the Ringer: Sacha Baren Cohen Isla Fisher Tom Sizemore John David Washington Riley Keough Would’ve been nuts...but I also think sacha might’ve worked? Better than Jonah at least.
Seeing this hopefully by Sunday at the latest. The fact that this is going to significantly outperform Cats is hilarious to me
