I’ve actually really enjoyed the acting. I thought Allison has been over-acted, and 5 has been a bit too this season, but by and large I think they’ve struck a really good balance of dark/emotive and humor/light-heartedness. The script rolls more easily than most super hero scripts do for me. I haven’t read hotel oblivion but I thought the comics were a bit of a slog to get through. If not for the show and Gerard link I’m not sure I’d have enjoyed them much at all. Then again I struggle a bit with comics anyway.
Yeah, coming from someone who loves comics, I'm kinda there with you. I read through them after I watched S1, and I enjoyed them at first, but found myself less engaged as I went on
While I liked Hazel more than I liked the Swedes, I basically loved Lila from the get-go. Raymond and Sissy were also great counterparts for Allison and Vanya, but other than that, I didn't really enjoy the 60s as a backdrop (although I think that's more just me being used to Doctor Who jumping to a different time period every episode as opposed to being stuck in one for an entire season). That being said, overall the second season is an improvement over the first. Instead of focusing on this charmingly dysfunctional family's individual character flaws, I feel like this season focused more on the charmingly dysfunctional aspect. They grew closer as siblings and I grew to love them more.
I feel like this show really nails the balance between dumb campy fun and still having an engaging narrative. Exactly what you want from a second season of a show: Build upon the existing story while further developing your characters and honing in on what works, while also putting down a bunch of juicy morsels for the next season Their dad is an alien!?!?! Fucking Sparrow Academy with grown up Ben and five mystery supes?!?!?! The possibility of a 70 year old Harlen who also has super powers showing up?!?!
There's six mystery supes, don't forget the green floating box, apparently that's a Sparrow Academy kid too lol

I think the cast is exactly what they need to be. Plus they all have great chemistry with one another and play off each other really well. Don't have any complaints about this show from an acting standpoint.
Wait, didn’t he play a substantial role in the major conflict though? Maybe I just forget. It felt like a retread to me when I watched it.
I feel like he was pretty well redeemed with the rest of the group by the end of the season, and helped prevent the kid from destroying everything. I may be misremembering though as I watched it pretty quickly when it came out and it's already blurred a bit in my head.
yeah, there wasn't much of a villain turn at all last season. they flirted with it for like a second but they basically saved everyone in the end haha
It was assumed Vanya would be the cause of destruction, and she would have been, but only due to manipulation from that CIA or whatever dude. Vanya is "losing control" and back in control all in the span of like one episode.
