I can’t wait that long.
The books are sooooo good.
Wow so this is a real thing! Excited to see what results from this!
Yeah this looks like Lemony Snciket made a super hero show
Edit: sorry forgot to say it looks awesome!
I’m on board
this looks so good I'm so happy about it
Will watch because Gerard Way, Robert Sheehan and Ellen Page. Don't care for superheroes but optimistic for this
Review embargo lifted today. Looks promising. As a fan of the comics I'm relieved. Spoilers abound, so read at your own risk.
5 Star Review from Collider
Mixed-to-Negative Review from Variety
Washington Post calls it 'an absolute must-see'
A pullquote from ComicsBeat's rather thorough review:
ComicBook.com gives it 4/5
CNet calls it 'a fantastic riot of action and pop music'
CBR has a positive review that especially praises this version of Hazel and Cha-Cha
I cannottttt waitttttt!!!
The A.V. Club gave it a C+
Lots of mixed reviews for this, but hey, The AV Club has a short video with Gerard and showrunner Steve Blackman talking about how the Netflix series came to be.
The Umbrella Academy, review: Superhero series more indebted to Wes Anderson than Stan Lee
This is wild. I remember when Dark Horse sent me the series to review for AP.net. Seems like ages ago.
Vulture has a weird review where the reviewer admits in the first graf that he only watched 3 or 4 episodes and is unfamiliar with the comics.
Overall the series is sitting at 74% on RT and 64% on Metacritic. Not bad, but certainly not great. Hope some more positive reviews come in once it premieres.
Up on Netflix now. Going to watch it later tonight or over the weekend.
Liking this so far
Vulture now featuring a great interview with Gerard and showrunner Steve Blackman.
This is so damn good.
The music is awesome in this! I have my little cousins with me on their school vacation and we’ve been really into this the last two days. It’s probably a little more violent than I should be letting a ten year old watch though oops
Nothing worse than what they see happening on the news. They’ll be fine. Ten is a good age to know when something is fiction.
I mean they love Stranger Things and Sabrina and all that stuff already but there’s some scenes where the little one looks at me and makes a dramatically horrified face and I’m like oh no I’ve scarred her for life hahaha.
