Did anyone else pre-order the vinyl, and if so, have you received it? I haven’t...bummin’

 

Liked A New Kind of House and White Lighter back when they got covered in the AP days, gave this a listen and dug it more as it went on. They're playing TNK Fest on Friday and I may go since the Snail Mail/Ratboys show of the same fest sold out.

 

Does anyone know what the setlist has been for the tour thus far?

Thanks! I actually saw that l, but since the “proper tour” kicked off 1/12, and that’s when the album was released, I was wondering if it was any different starting on Friday

 

This is a dense listen in a good way.

This album is blowing my mind.

 

It’s very very good

 

I think I prefer White Lighter but they’re both great albums.

 

This was a bit of a letdown. Especially after how fantastic the last one was. The songs are way less explosive and the melodies are way less indelible. Hopefully it grows on me.

 

I'd like to give this album a chance in 4 sittings, using the 4 "movements" of the album, "Floodplains," "Flood," "Reckoning," and "Afterparty."

I know that Floodplains is the first 4 songs, but I don't know how the other 3 parts break out

 

OK now I found that it's 3 parts according to Typhoon's original FB post about the album, even though the NPR First Listen stream lists 4 movements... anyway, these are the 3 if it's 3

“Sleep” and “Afterparty” together is the last movement, according to the vinyl release.

 

Same. White Lighter is one of my top 10 of all time, and I really like the previous EP and LP too. The new album has a handful of very good songs, some good ones, and a few boring ones. White Lighter has 3 pillars and not a single bad song.

 

I am really on the fence about this record. I have listened it twice so far and can see the appeal but at the same time it seems a bit pretentious with all the literary references and the LENGTH. 74 minutes is a long record and especially with how dark and "samey" it is. With that all being said, I have not given up the ship yet and usually push for at least 3-5 listens of an album before I make my final verdict. I hope everyone else is enjoying it!

 

I really enjoy the album as a listening experience, definitely not something I would binge listen to but I can see myself coming back to it often for a very long time.

 

I've never heard of this band before and I'm wormholing so hard right now. I've pretty much had this on repeat all week. Going back and listening to White Lighter right now and fuck.

 

More people need to hear this.
