I don’t know how much this means but in Sony’s recent financial fiscal report it mentions a Tyler album dropping before June 30th of this year.
He's been pretty consistent dropping an album every two years (2011, 2013, 2015, 2017) so I believe it
I really have no idea where Tyler is going to go next with his sound. IMO he's gotten better every single album, but I can't really see him just making Flower Boy 2
I listened to most of the frank ocean one and while it had some cool bits and info a lot of it was relatively straight forward information if you’re someone who has kept up with the artist / album. Haven’t checked out the flower boy one yet but assume it’ll be similar.
From this I'm guessing it will kind of combine the sound of Flower Boy with a bit more modern/trap-ish production Like Okra I guess lol
That podcast is good. The best parts are when he breaks down the musical elements one at a time and where they're from (samples from Can) and/or explaining how they're unique in the hip hop world. The lyrical breakdowns are good, but it goes along with some movie or TV show interpretations I see online that bug me in that it's not what the artist specifically said it's all about but what the host thinks it's about when it really is completely open to everybody's personal interpretation. Still though, he has interesting insights that for all I know are pretty accurate. I'll continue listening, no doubt.
Got a bit of a Tim and Eric vibe from the music and video. I love how Tyler does whatever the FUCK he wants.
It sounds like a mix of the prettiness of Flower Boy and the abrasiveness of Cherry Bomb So fucking stoked
Yeah Cherry Bomb has a lot of cool stuff going on but the mix really gets in the way for me. I know that’s “””the point””” and it’s probably the record he had to made to get to a point where Flower Boy could happen, but I still don’t like to listen to it
