so i just finished my first listen of this and it's weird. interesting for sure but i'm very split on it, kind of loved half of it and hated the other half
Loved the first song. Havent listened to the other two. The first album was great. High hopes for this one.
It's odd how little hype I have for this, despite liking the second and third singles. I only think the first album is O.K., but was hoping they'd improve on it. Maybe I'm writing it off because of the production, but my expectations are significantly lowered.
I was really looking forward to hearing the go pro and iphone recording of their live performances. I feel like the production will end up sounding a lot cleaner.
I just wonder why Max shoots himself in the foot so much his recent production choices. I think the most recent SA album and the new TT singles would have been much more successful if they had decent production.
I've graduated to enjoying 2/3 of this and hating a single three-song sequence in the middle of it. It's definitely a step above I Don't Think It Is, fwiw (and I know that's a low bar). But I actually find some of the songs here interesting enough that I keep wanting to go back and listen to them again, which is a good sign. It's not as fun as the first album, but it's something. Review should go up next week. I know this is going to sound like total bullshit, but there are times during the closer when Chris' voice is pretty much indecipherable and I swear it sounds like a fucking Sigur Ros song if Sigur Ros used heavy distortion and background screams lmao
Pretty sure it has to do with ticket sales. Some of the venues they listed, to me, were too big for a low key band like two tongues
Instead of doing the "Two Tongues plays STD and SA mini sets" idea, they should have just had Two Tongues open for Saves and Say Anything. Both bands draw large crowds. Only people "in the know" know who Two Tongues even is.
Blasting this up at work right now... Loving it. Not sure if the customers do. But so far I'm on track 4 and its really good
