Pretty sure it's due to lack of ticket sales so they would have lost money in the end probably. It's been almost 8 years since the first release and the singles released aren't that good so go figure.
I still can't believe Hebrews exists, and that it's a thing in this world, that's how bad i think it is.
I totally hear you about Max not creating music at the level he used to, but I think it's unfair to say something like this. He's married and has a family. His mental health seems far better than it ever was when he was creating his best musical work. Unfortunately, substance abuse and emotional states often bring the best art out of people (Kid Cudi and Elliot Smith immediately come to mind), but to say that Max has fallen just doesn't seem accurate.
Honestly i wouldn't call I Don't Think It Is creatively empty either (and I hate that album), plenty of weird new things on there, it's just poorly executed. I may not prefer his new music, but I'd say Max is far from "creatively empty."
Sorry, didn't mean in overall terms of his life / health / general well-being, I was strictly referencing the quality of his musical output as compared to a half decade ago.
same he tried now stuff but it come out that good so he still has it in him to come out would something good again one day
The new album is pretty good, but not buzzy enough for a solid tour for sure. I listened to I Don't Think It Is like twice and I hated Hebrews to the core.
That's kind of why I liked it, to be honest. It was an interesting choice, whereas I can't remotely get past the production on the new album. I kind of doubt Max will ever top In Defense for me.
Calling someone "creatively empty" is a pretty messed up thing to say, tbh. I don't like the last SA album either but the dude has released a ton of music over the past decade, including the self-titled which is easily the best thing he's put his name on.
Honestly...if he remastered the last Say Anything & Two Tongues records I'd probably really dig em' I just can't get past how awful they sound :(
