“They think they are soooooo cool what with their empathizing with the plight of others and actively trying to pursue a more equitable society. I mean, amplifying marginalized voices and acknowledging systemic oppression is basically the new kale. Everyone says so. The jerks.”

See this is what's great about an echochamber like this. You can say one line that you think sums up someone else's valid statement, even though we're all on the same side. You guys do a great job of deciding what others believe despite what they do in their daily life.

I finally got you to admit that Hillary Clinton was a Nazi this entire time lmao

“We’ve shrunk the political process to such a narrow set of questions, and that’s in the interests of both the far right and the far left, both of whom want to blow up the system and undermine it.” - HC

I’m not a total pacifist. I believe violence is necessary when that is the last resort. I’ve always been taught that violence is the answer if you can’t outsmart your opponent and it must come to that. If someone is hitting you then I believe you should hit back. Wars are examples of when violence was needed to achieve peace, but most often then not a lot of movements are successful due to convincing the other side they need to change their ways based on your actions, which do not have to be violent.

For the last question, Antifa, the ideal of the group is not bad. Fascists are a hateful group and they need to be opposed. Like any group, though, people will operate under the name and misuse it for things I don’t believe is right. Whenever people are peacefully protesting, even if they’re ideals are absolutely bonkers (a lot of the alt-right, for example), I don’t believe in attacking them, like people who claim to be apart of antifa did in Berkeley, CA. That’s just my two cents though, since you asked.

I see you like war. That’s good. I want to wage a systemic against those that see genocide as the desired effect.

  12. Nazis aren't peacefully "protesting." The very idea and central premise of a Nazi is to commit genocide and eradicate other races.

Also, if you think any of the movements in history have relied solely on making the oppressors feel bad, you know nothing about history.

  15. MLK, JR:
First, I must confess that over the last few years I have been gravely disappointed with the white moderate. I have almost reached the regrettable conclusion that the Negro's great stumbling block in the stride toward freedom is not the White Citizen's Council-er or the Ku Klux Klanner, but the white moderate who is more devoted to "order" than to justice; who prefers a negative peace which is the absence of tension to a positive peace which is the presence of justice; who constantly says "I agree with you in the goal you seek, but I can't agree with your methods of direct action;" who paternalistically feels he can set the timetable for another man's freedom; who lives by the myth of time and who constantly advises the Negro to wait until a "more convenient season."

Shallow understanding from people of goodwill is more frustrating than absolute misunderstanding from people of ill will. Lukewarm acceptance is much more bewildering than outright rejection.

Genuine question: are people with leftist political beliefs horrible people who deserve to be harassed online if they are not far-left?

That’s what I’m gathering from this thread. There seems to be only two types of people 1) far-left 2) shit

by the way they're talking, I think they thinks liberals are leftists and centrists are liberals. and far right are moderate republicans.

  25. Wharf Rat

I know a little something you won't ever know Prestigious

Do you understand there are genuine, fundamental political differences between the "far left" (a meaningless term you haven't defined in relation to any actual politics) and "leftists" (a term you see to be using to mean anyone left from Hillary Clinton)? "Liberals," who you seem to think are "leftists," believe in the fundamental efficacy of capitalism, and that it simply needs to be reigned in to varying extents. They are not what I would describe as "leftists." I would like to do away with capitalism and have socialism instead, a "leftist" position. This is the origin of the hard line drawn between what you call "far left" and "leftists," which are actually "leftists" and "liberals." It's not that non-leftists are "shit," its that their politics are diametrically opposed to mine.

Your real problem, though, seems to just be that you think leftists are mean to liberals. This might very well be true, but it is not a "far left" position, nor any kind of political position at all, to be mean to liberals. There is a genuine political difference between these two groups that has them constantly positioned in opposition politically. And the "online harassment" faced from leftists by people spouting bad, liberal takes on twitter is - usually, not all the time, of course, leftists can obviously be shitty awful people who harass or threaten people - of a fundamentally different nature. In my experience, its usually things like "this is an awful, dumb take, delete your account." Do you see how this is different from something like, maybe, "are you ready for the gas chambers, (((Jew)))?"
