Blue Velvet was such a cool experience. Mulholand Drive being the only other movie of his I’ve seen, but really dug it.
The fact that Eraserhead is his directorial debut is astounding. I think Mulholand Drive will forever remain my favorite Lynch film though.
just finished season 1 of twin peaks. It's good, but I have a feeling that if i watched this in 1990, i would've thought it was the greatest thing ever, but in 2018, watching it for the first time.... it's still good, but it doesnt have that "binge" feel to it. Like, I think i'd enjoy it more on a week to week, get invested in the characters, type deal, because trying to get through a few episodes in one sitting is kinda a slog. There's a LOT of characters, and they're ALL god damn connected in something, and it just all feels so soap opera like with their twists and turns. Dont get me wrong. I like it. I love the humor, i love the style and the acting and the score (obviously), its just that i'm not dying to watch the next episode immediately.
As much as I love the show (it’s like my favorite thing ever), I totally get that. If you have the will, just push through season 2 so you can watch Fire Walk With Me and season 3. I think the show works best when you can look back on it as a whole. Also season 3 is Lynch’s magnum opus imo
Having this show in the 00's at the earliest would have been so wild with all the internet theories and stuff. It would have been a phenomenon like Lost, not that it wasn't, but just imagine what could have been if it had bigger ratings at the time.
This is the theatre I used to work at. One of the biggest things that my GM and I would bond over was our love for Twin Peaks. Last year I ending up sending him The Return on Blu-ray cause he wasn’t able to see it as it aired and he texted me this week that he’s finally started it. Anyways, I’m going back home in a few weeks and I asked him if we could watch episode 8 at the theatre and he said, “we could probably work something out.” YO THIS BETTER FUCKING HAPPEN. The only thing is that he says he doesn’t know if he’ll be able to wait that long lol. He’s on like episode 3 or 4 right now. But it’s the busy season and he’s got a family so I’m hoping he’ll just be able to get to episode 7 by the time I’m there.
Is The Return still on Showtime? Thinking of starting a free trial to watch The Chi but also want to rewatch the season.
Soooo the show is tonight. Apparently my sister’s boss’ husband is the conductor and her boss was like, “oh, I could get your brother backstage if you want.” I DONT KNOW IF MY HEART COULD HANDLE MEETING CHRYSTA AND JAMES
