So I stayed away from this thread ever since the new season premiered because I don't have Showtime. Is the $50 Blu-ray set worth it if I'm going into it cold turkey?
Wow, weird coincidence. Not sure why this popped in my brain this afternoon and checking to see if it had already come out on blu-ray, I just noticed the season premiered a year ago today.
It's kismet. Buy and watch it immediately. It's the most interesting show I've ever watched. I like Mad Men more than Twin Peaks, but nothing has made me feel the way TP has.
Speaking of the high pitched noise Ben and Beverley hear (mentioned in the article above) I noticed on rewatch that in episode 3 during the first red room dream sequence, you can hear the same high pitched noise when BOB is first shown.
Also this. Thought he was reaching, but it’s definitely there. And lynch did suggest watching with headphones.
It’s just amazing how subtle, yet obviously intentional, something like that is. Makes me wonder what else I am missing
I play that song in guitar center constantly haha. It's like my own little take on the stairway to heaven meme.
I remember laughing so hard when it came on in The Return, just thinking about David Lynch being like “Fuck you all, it’s a great song”. In fact the way they addressed (or didn’t) James legacy throughout the season was pretty hilarious to me.
I always liked James and found out later that it's a meme that people make fun of him for being "cool" or whatever. I think he's great.
His story makes sense in context. He's a kid whose always projected his identity on either "love or escape" (note how he always talks about either running away, or falling deeply in love enough to save him). This is especially considering he's been traumatized by his mother's alcohol-fueled relationships and lack of presence in his life, and he's been pushed around (literally, as well, by the show-writers) into high-tension situations that don't center on him. His whole life he's been trying to figure out where he belongs, culminating during the second season Evelyn plotline. He never outright bothered me because I genuinely empathized a lot with James. Moreso than anything, he provided a lot of comic relief.
Twin Peaks (Limited Event Series Soundtrack) - Twin Peaks (Limited Event Series Soundtrack) (Score) - Amazon.com Music I listen to this so much. Always chills me out.
I love when this thread gets bumped. Soundtrack is too good. Dark Space Low haunts me, always think of Coop's confused face in the lodge
