all my co-workers are GOT heads and it's sad every Monday because I want to talk twin peaks but they talk GOT.
Are there any other surrealist directors out there, American or otherwise, that I would enjoy since I love Lynch?
I told my friend before he even starts that if he's watching only to find out who killed Laura Palmer, he's doing it wrong/missing the point. I was the same way the first few episodes but once I learned who all the characters were and realized the murder was just the catalyst and not the story, I fell in love with TP.
Yeah, that's basically what I've told him as well. Once he founds out who killed her I will tell him how it wasn't the original idea and all that stuff
I watched a horror movie last night that felt kinda lynchian. Eyes of My Mother- its on netflix, p good stuff
I totally forgot I have a Fantasy Football draft on Sunday at 8 (that I set up!) but it was the best and only time to do it. Also, I don't think I was able to watch Twin Peaks live except for the pilot, so may as well stick with tradition.
Rewatching the pilot and everyone's reactions to the death of Laura are so heartbreaking. Donna realizing what happened and crying before anyone says anything is so tragic. It's also so interesting that it takes forever for Cooper to arrive. Not many shows will wait so long to introduce the main character.
Yeah, it's honestly pretty jarring. Especially the scene with Sarah Palmer learning of Laura's death.
I am up to the death of Maddy. It is obvious that part of the way it was shot because of network reluctance to show graphic violence/incest, but it is still intense without being overly reliant on the tricks a lot of shows do to imply extreme violence.
It's a very violent scene, and the sound design in it is really good. And then you gotta stop and think that it's an uncle bashing in his nieces face who is most likely a high schooler. It's dark.
This is the only place I can come to discuss Twin Peaks. My one friend is making his way through the original episodes, so obviously I can't discuss the new stuff with him, and I don't know anyone else that watches it. Happy this little corner of Chorus exists.
Really lends support to the notion that, despite MacLachlan being the lead actor, the real main character of the original series is the town itself.
And also remembering Sheryl Lee had to go to that place emotionally as an actress twice as well. Once as Maddie and once in FWWM as Laura. Couldn't have been easy.
finally all caught up on this season and damn, a lot of emotions about this latest ep. Also picked up the secret history at Powells today, it was listed as like-new but I guess someone got a couple small pen marks on the slip that wraps around the cover so they could only sell it for $16.
I just met Sherilyn Fenn. Didn't wanna ask for a picture though. I just expressed my gratitude and told her that Audrey's scene last week was magical
