Any time James was at the roadhouse it had to be real. But I just don't know why any other roadhouse bits would've been part of Audrey's hallucination/coma/whatever when she couldn't even get there until last night. I've been pondering the true nature of the roadhouse scenes all day now haha
I loved the roller coaster of Oh, Audrey's at the Roadhouse. I guess Charlie is real and she is awake ("Ladies and gentlmen, Audrey's dance!") ...Orrrrrrrrr not.
Watched the episode tonight. Loved every second of it. No question in my mind that this is the best thing ever to be on TV. Really hoping we get more of Red in the last 2 hours. That coin flip scene with Richard was one of my favs so far.
The whole season I kept wondering when Eddie Vedder was gonna pop up so I was stoked when that happened too. Haha. Loved the new song as well. Although I kind of wonder if there's something to the mc introducing him by his birth name and Nine Inch Nails as "THE Nine Inch Nails". I know it's probably a reach haha, but it almost feels like both those performances were affiliated with "otherworldly" or dreamy scenes compared to the other Roadhouse performances. The only other acts that were actually introduced, iirc, were Lissie and James.
Yikes. My friend just finished season 2 episode 1 and this is the text I get. He's like the most logically thinking person I've ever met and is a fan of those Cinema Sins videos because that's the way his brain works. Whenever we watch a movie together he has nothing to say about the themes or the message but he will pick apart the smallest little continuity inaccuracies. I mean, his brain is just wired differently than mine but it's frustrating to me I remember when that episode ended with Ronnette's dream I was in awe.
There are those who love Lynch's work and those who hate it, and very few that tolerate it. I think once you know Lynch is a painter and finds fascination in emotion and dreams over logic then youre able to find your footing easier. I started with TP, then Blue Velvet, then Eraserhead, then his others. It felt like a good entry-way and Eraserhead changed everything. Then I got more into art-horror and surreal shit, checked out Argento's Suspiria for the first time, etc... It's a niche style for sure, you just have to be openminded into letting Lynch take you there. I dont blame those who dislike his work because it's admittedly harrowing to have the right kind of patience, but imo its so incredibly worthwhile. I've still yet to see Lost Highway, Wild at Heart, or Dune because im still digesting his other work-- and im rightly intimidated to watch more of his stuff. There are no other directors like him and the unknown makes people uncomfortable.
it's fun watching this with my sister (she was behind and we were catching up last night) and she thinks that I know what's going on and asks me the same question over and over again like I can't hear her lol
What's interesting to me is that this friend I'm talking about really enjoyed Mullholand Dr. which is very similar to Twin Peaks in tone and execution, imo. And it's not like he doesn't like the show but he's more concerned with whether or not they find out who killed Laura than with just experiencing the world. We then went on to dicuss what we're looking for when we watch something and it's clear we just want different things. Also, you don't really need to watch Dune. Lynch pretty much disowns that movie and wishes his name wasn't on it haha.
I don't talk about the show with any real life people. All they talk about is Game of Thrones. A coworker talked to me for it for at least five minutes yesterday and all I did was nod.
SAME. It's so hard to find someone who appreciates Twin Peaks. My girlfriend dropped the show after the second season finale because she was so upset and confused by the ending. She tells me she may watch the next one but I think in that moment, she realized just who Lynch is as a director.
This particular friend I'm talking to has been harping on me to watch the new season of GoT. I only have one friend who loves Twin Peaks as much as me but she lives about 300 miles away haha
That's interesting to me. I would think with the ending to season two would make one feel compelled to watch season 3 to get some answers.
I got my best friend into Twin Peaks and 5 of my coworkers are really into it so I have a lot to talk about on Mondays haha
