'David Lynch was so preoccupied with whether he could, he didn't stop to think if he should." - Dr. Ian Malcolm, on bringing James Hurley into Twin Peaks in 2017.
Just in case people don't know, apparently Part 14 went on air by mistake somewhere... I have no idea if it's out there or not, though...
'Twin Peaks' Likely Won't Be Revived Again at Showtime A misleading title in my opinion. Worth reading the whole thing if you want to know more about the future of the show
I also don't expect more but if we do get more I would think it would be a long time before we see it. It makes sense that Lynch hasn't had any conversations about another season with Showtime.
Yeah the majority of the headlines on articles about this have been straight up trash. There will be no discussions about the future until The Return finishes airing. Showtime seem keen so I'd say the ball is in Lynch & Frost's court. Lynch has said in multiple interviews there is nothing planned but he'd be open to doing more. Personally I would love another series if Lynch, Frost and Maclachlan are on board and have determined there is more story to be told. I can't imagine everything in The Return will be tied up in a nice neat bundle by the end of Part 18. We'll just need to enjoy the remaining 5 hours and see what the future holds.
As much as I love Twin Peaks, the return has been near perfection and I think I'd prefer a whole new project by Lynch, but I'll also take any Lynch I can get.
Whether or not I want more Twin Peaks rests entirely on how satisfied I am with whatever conclusion this season leaves us with.
If they did more Twin Peaks with Showtime, hopefully it would be either a shorter series (like, no more than 8-10 episodes) or (and this is something I'd almost rather see now that I think about it) another 2.5-hour movie. But yeah, that all depends on the way this ends. And also if Lynch & Frost have any ideas. And also if they wouldn't rather do something original next instead, if anything (which I remain wholly open to).
Knowing Lynch, if he did another movie it would just be filling in the gaps as to what Coop was doing off-screen while he was living Dougie's life.
Yeah, the two hour finale is just 17/18 together (like the premiere was 1/2). Whole thing is still 18 hours total.
I'm watching Fire Walk With Me for the first time. How did I not know Bowie was in this? I hope he had time to film something for the Return. Not giving up hope until part 18 is over.
