I'm going to watch this again. I was really high last night when I watched it. I get the gist of it, but I think I need to take it all in again.
Wow, they went full 2001 with that sequence. After every episode, I'm tempted to re-watch this season from the beginning given the new developments and added context for everything.
I've been rewatching the season and it's been especially rewarding, considering they spend a lot of time between each story sequence. There's so much to take in--from the portal in NYC, to the box in Argentina, to the Ruth Davenport murders, to the gang-related car bombing, to the shady business at the casino, to the attempted assassination, to the humming furniture at the Great Northern.
Wow, just wow. I feel as though it was an origin story of sorts...but I'm still confused as to the bug/frog thing and the girls mouth. Was that girl Sarah Palmer? Was the bug/frog related to the orb with Laura's face at all? What an hour of television. Twilight Zone vibes, but way darker, and more modern. Just amazing.
fun fact: the song playing over the radio that the Woodsman interrupts is a song by the platters, who had a vocalist named david lynch. this means nothing plot-wise of course haha. and, is the Woodsman supposed to be the same one from the convenience store scene in FWWM? Doubtful, but they do seem to be a faction of sorts within the Black Lodge.
adding little to the discussion but episode 8 is probably the best thing I've watched this year (tv/movie/otherwise).
also, is the woodsman also the ghost figure from the jail cell from the first/second episode? kinda remember him looking similar but can't be sure since it was so long ago
Can't get over that episode. Unreal. I thought I was prepared. I was not. Did that just change television?? Also, really wondering if the Cooper that woke up is bad Coop or good Coop at this point? What would that make Dougie? I need to rewatch and see if bad Coop still had the black eyes after waking up as I can't quite recall, but it'd be an interesting dynamic if he woke up good now that Bob has been "pulled out of him;" especially the dynamic that could create in his return to Twin Peaks/dealings with the FBI if we see something like that unfold. Alternatively, what if he's just ANOTHER "Dougie?" That'd be sure to...drive some people absolutely mad, haha. EDIT: because I forgot briefly that bad Coop is still bad Coop sans Bob. But what will that mean for him now? I feel like Bob being removed from him has to lead somewhere.
I think its one of the woodsman. After that last ep, I'm pretty sure there's like an entire legion of them wandering about.
So I just finished season 2 and holy crap that ending was amazing. I can't believe it's taken me this long to watch this show. After watching that and seeing all the reactions from Season 3 (especially this weeks apparently), I can't wait to dive into it, though my schedule might not allow it for a while.
Lmao. Was just rewatching episode 6 and I got to the part where the officer Chad insults Frank's wife for bitching about her father's car not starting, and the woman officer just gives him this look and tells him "You have no idea what you're even talking about." Chad is definitely a bad dude. Somethings definitely up with him--wasn't he the guy who accepted Richard Horne's bribe at the R&R before he was all rapey on that girl?
yeah that was him. he's clearly into some shady business, apart from just being a piece of shit person lol. Speaking of Truman, I'm pretty bummed that Michael Ontkean isn't returning but I do like Frank a lot. I don't know about anyone else but his reaction to Wally's monologue cracked me up.
Hahaha that was incredible when he just walked away and the camera stays on his face as he shakes his head
Yeah not having Michael Ontkean has been consistently disappointing even though if you're gonna replace him with anyone Robert Forster is as good as it gets.
Idk. I don't think Michael Ontkean is that great of an actor. I think he worked in the original run. Not sure he would here....but maybe.
for anyone who doesn't know, Forster was supposed to play Sheriff Truman in the original run but backed out. said he kicked himself for years over it. so when Ontkean declined to be apart of the reunion, Lynch offered the part to Forster, who was more than happy to accept it this time. pretty cool story imo.
God the overhwelming praise of the new season makes me want to catch up quickly. It's taking forever, I rarely have the time or energy to devote to serious tv anymore
This show/season is so exhausting too, if I get behind I think I'll have trouble catching up. My friends and I try to watch together/motivate each other to keep up every week which has been fun and helpful.
Did Ontkean decline? I thought he said he was surprised Lynch never contacted him about the revival and just wrote him off?
