Some of these non-dale storylines I'm so lost on. I have no clue who Carl, Laura Dern or Diane are.

Carl was in FWWM, he's the owner of the Fat Trout Trailer Park where Teresa Banks lived before she was murdered. Before he was the owner, he was one of the three elementary school students who disappeared in the woods during a nature walk (another student was the Log Lady) and when they returned 24 hours later, he along with the others had triangular markings on the back of their knees

Diane is the woman Cooper refers to as he makes recordings to himself all throughout the series. Laura Dern is the actress who plays Diane.

I didn't realize Carl was from the movie. I will have to watch this whole thing over again.

I think this was my favourite episode yet. Surprised no one is talking about the coin flip scene. I felt that was absolutely terrifying.

This may be a bold claim, but I think this might be the best thing that's ever been on television. Very lucky to be watching it as it happens.

I thought the coin thing was pretty odd, and found his random thrashings to be more scary personally. Something that disappointed me though, was how they used that black dude with the gun in the background as a wordless prop. I was sitting there, waiting for him to speak, but he just stood there as a scare tactic in the background. I read a great article about Lynch's use of minority characters and it struck mostly true, which is unfortunate and maybe a byproduct of his frequent meta explorations-and-representations of film and television characters, but still these kinds of things don't bode well with me.

With that said, I just had a great conversation with my friend about the show and how it's doing new things for television all over again. It's a completely unique and wonderful television show, and just maybe the best thing out right now.

Anyone know what's going on with the screen flickering ? Is there images spliced in for a single frame like in Fight Club or something ?

Best quote I've seen about this new season so far:

"This show is like the green tea latte from S3E5, you think you wanted coffee (the same old), but you get something new/different and end up loving it even more."

While so far I'm in the boat of S1 > S2 > S3, I can't put into words how fantastic these last 6 episodes have been.

Also, Fire Talk With Me is updated with all the new episodes. Best podcast there is out there about Twin Peaks.

I had to pause the show because I was laughing so hard from the sound of the karate chops.

I need someone to screen shot that part where that person describes that moment like "he moved like a cobra"

Because I am the cobra kid and that is made for me

This episode frustrated me more than the others. Just noticably slower other than that one scene. A few plot developments here and there but mostly felt like a series of disconnected events. I feel we're reaching almost halfway through the season and there's still so much to touch on, with so many scenes focusing on trivial things... i don't know. I know Lynch loves to test patience, but this week was a little much for me.

Edit: funny how online people are hailing it as the best episode yet. Maybe its just me?

Yea I mean, this was the most clear forward plot movement of any episode yet. Hawk explaining Laura's diary pages, coop back in action, evil coop escaping, Diane & Cole's conversations, etc.

I think I felt these things occurred at a pace not equal to their weight, maybe that's why. The Diane and Coop conversation gave way to more questions than answers, and who is Mr. Strawberry? I'm sure we'll get answers eventually, or maybe not, but it was the execution of these plot elements that bothered me. I admittedly miss Bobby, who appeared for a brief sob-sesh a few eps back, expecting him to come more into play by this point. I wanted more of the Great Northern, so that "humming" scene was an insufferable tease for me. I wanted to know more about the car accident.

I've trained myself to usually have the utmost patience with Lynch but I think I went in this week with too many expectations.

  20. Good to have an episode cover a lot of narrative ground after the last 2 eps. Didn't know David Koechner was gonna be in this, so that was a nice surprise. Dern and Watts were great this ep.

  21. Also, I very much enjoy Laura Dern saying "Fuck you!" to everybody.

Best episode of the season so far. Had all the good of new Peaks, plus felt like the most "old-school" ep yet.

I feel as though Coop (Dougie) is finally getting himself 'back' if that makes sense. Hoping we get the full Cooper we love by the end of episode 8. Meeting Diane was great, and Gordon was funny as always. Also what's with Lynch and hot actresses? (Tammy Preston, the secretary at Dougie's office...)

Man, Lynch wasn't joking about this being an 18 hour long movie. Very much taking its time. It'll be interesting to go back and watch this again when it's all said and done.

So I'm just starting the series and am halfway through S1. I have no idea what's going on. It's really interesting but between all the characters introduced so quickly, the seemingly random storylines, and wilder/out-there elements, I'm having a really hard time keeping up with it. Does this change and become easier to keep track of when you know the characters better or is that confusion more so just the point and how you're supposed to feel at all times?

The show does not introduce too many new characters in the second season, so you will get that part in time. However, as far as the lore and mythology, a lot of it remains a mystery on purpose.
