I'd say the show gets its first redefining moment after the third episode, and in my opinion it only gets better as it goes on, with the exception of mid-late second season. I'd give it a few more episodes and if it's still not your thing, then I'd just move on
The third episode at the end is when it starts to get weird and no longer be a straight soap opera. I'm going give episode 5 a shot knowing that it will get weirder and that my expectations have been calibrated.
I've always loved FWWM but it was so much more satisfying rewatching it knowing that it's, finally, not the last of Twin Peaks. It hasn't been 25 years of waiting for me but it's still probably...10?
Showtime's episode descriptions for the first eight episodes (under spoiler tags to be safe but they're...unique) Part 1: My log has a message for you. Part 2: The stars turn and a time presents itself. Part 3: Call for help. Part 4: …brings back some memories. Part 5: Case files. Part 6: Don’t die. Part 7: There’s a body all right. Part 8: Gotta light?
You guys into The Secret History at all? I'm halfway through, and I think I'm going to finish up the second half today
Second half (when it ties back into the actual town) is a lot better than the first. Whole thing leaves me conflicted though.
I'm maybe about a third of the way through, enjoying the conspiracy theory-type stuff so far though I'm pretty eager to get to some, well, actual Twin Peaks proper stuff.
