I absolutely loved seeing it in theaters. And I absolutely love that they're making it a recurring thing around the country. So deserved
The theater here is doing every episode of the first two seasons, fire walk with me, and every episode of the return. Not going to be able to go weekly for everything but gonna try for fire walk with me and episode 8 of the return
our local indie has been doing it too. really wanna know why tons of theaters across the country are showing the whole show back to back. it's incredibly cool, i'm just surprised it's happening so often all of a sudden
Well he died last year around this time. I also think it’s near his birthday? Not gonna google it. I also think maybe Lynch works require time for the mainstream to get a handle on them. I think many of his films received criticism at first and then reassessed years later
Fell even more in love with his work in the last year and I didn’t think that was possible. His films just get better with age and rewatching.
Michael Ontkean Remembers David Lynch - Posteritati Movie Poster Gallery this is a beautiful read, well worth the time. Ontkean seems like an interesting dude
You can feel how heartfelt that is. Missed Ontkean so much in The Return. Seems Lynch did too, with how he wrote Frank’s character and all the references to Harry being sick. Sucks so much Lynch died. He touched so many artists’ lives.
a reiteration from Jennifer Lynch on Reddit a few days ago after someone asked about access to the Unrecorded Night script (after someone tried contacting the Library of Congress to read an archived copy). very excited that this definitely seems to be happening.
Went to the last 2 eps of season 1 and the local cool theater the other night, featuring a twin peaks burlesque show before the screening. Incredible stuff ; especially LeLand Palmer doing “dancing with myself” and Nadine doing “stonger” by Britney Spears while lifting drape runners
started my first rewatch in 5 years tonight. last time i watched it was also the first time my partner ever watched. he loved it, and we're both excited to dive back in. even knowing everything that eventually happens, i'm still intrigued to see it all play out again.
WILD AT HEART thank God. Universal and Criterion just completed a new 4K restoration of Wild at Heart from the original negative - supervised by DoP Frederick Elmes, with an audio restoration by Dean Hurley - all approved by the Lynch Family Trust. looks like it'll be premiering at the Ritrovata film festival in Italy, and i expect Criterion's involvement means a physical release is on the horizon. gimme the uncensored Bobby Peru death scene spliced back in and it'll be perfect.
I saw The Straight Story also added to Criterion the other day. Though nothing will beat when I saw that on 35mm in theaters a few months ago. I was in tears at the end
yeah, they've put it on the streaming service a couple times now. wish Disney would get their shit together and let them issue a UHD here in the US. i have a rip of the first UHD on my hard drive, and if necessary, i'd pick up StudioCanal's one they just dropped in the UK, but i hope they do something domestically. it's the one Lynch film i still need to watch, just looking for the best time to watch it.
