That video is fucking great lol. Similar energy to the “For your consideration, Laura Dern” pop-up with the cows when he was promoting Inland Empire
Ebert hated Blue Velvet too. Fire Walk With Me was considered a huge disaster for many years. Now pretty much everyone has come around. Even something as artistically compromised as his Dune movie can be appreciated for some of the offbeat choices he made.
Still haven’t seen Dune. Or Wild at Heart. And now I’m pissed bc I’m seeing Elephant Man is no longer on streaming or VOD. That is one of my favorites by him. Hoping that some local theaters play through his films—I’d try to catch as many as I can.
i’m glad to have summers off being a teacher, so i just got to do a full Twin Peaks binge this recent summer break that paired with listening to Blank Check’s retrospectives on the series they just released have really catapulted the work into a class of its own for me
watched Blue Velvet and The Elephant Man last night. listened to The Big Dream on the way to work today
just watched the clip of Patricia Arquette getting the news of his passing in the middle of a press interview for Severance and her trying to hold back tears. really sad.
think we're gonna watch Eraserhead tonight. my partner still hasn't seen it, so it'll be a wild ride for sure.
Yeah, definitely watching a Lynch film tonight. My wife has seen none of them, and only the first two seasons of Twin Peaks, so I’m excited to see her reaction to whatever we choose.
Starting the day with cherry pie, coffee, and Eraserhead because I’ve rewatched Twin Peaks recently and wanna save some of the other movies for later. Cool how similar some of the more experimental stuff in The Return is to the first 5 minutes of this. Haven’t seen The Straight Story, Wild at Heart or Elephant man, grateful to have some previously unviewed stuff as another glimpse into his mind
messaged the local indie after they posted to see if they had any rep screenings planned and it seems like they’re going to try to do something
still waiting to watch The Straight Story until i can get my hands on the new 4K transfer. shame it hasn't made its way to the US yet (thanks, Disney)
Other than catching up to the films I hadn't seen yet, I should also give the music they've done together a listen.
