Yeah, this version of them might not be for me specifically, but it’s definitely cool that they continue to experiment and grow. I’ll definitely check the full release out
The World Is A Beautiful Place and I Am No Longer Afraid to Mosh No but fr mewithoutYou blew them off stage the only time I saw either of them and I say that as a big fan of TWIABP's work up to that point (Harmlessness era) - just didn't do it for me live for whatever reason
Are you in the UK? If so I agree, I was at the Glasgow show of that tour (2014? 15?) and thought there was no comparison between bands. To be fair I am a huge MWY fan but yknow.
Ireland, flew over for the Manchester show! This was 2016 - was and still am a huge mwY fan but despite loving TWIABP's first two records they didn't have the sauce live, imo.
i saw them a bunch of times live and did not enjoy them until after illusory walls — that time was very very good
Saw them 3 times in the Whenever era, including once in a tiny coffee shop, and they ruled every time, but I haven’t seen them in over a decade now.
The times that I've seen them (4-5 times over 4 years or so),..they very much have a shoegaze band vibe to their sets imo. They stand around, mostly looking down or not moving much, and play the songs. They aren't bad live and they sound decent...but you're not missing out on much as far as live energy/stage presence.
They’ve been pretty good both times I’ve seen them in 2018 and 2021. They weren’t ever thrashing around but they had a lot of energy the nights I saw them. Comparing them to mewithoutYou is a fools errand though; they’re one of the best live bands I’ve ever seen.
Got damn I forgot this was out tomorrow as well. Deftones, Hot Mulligan AND TWIABP were truly feasting
