I feel like it’s probably still Tyler imo... but I definitely think Paul had a hand in crafting that chorus in particular. It sounds just like something he would write.

I thought this band was pretty lame for the most part but decided to give Trench a spin.

I am glad I did because this new record is honestly solid! I am pretty surprised. However, I don't see it doing nearly as well as Blurryface sadly..

Last year I needed change of pace
Couldn't take the pace of change
    Moving hastily
But this year, though I'm far from home
    In trench I'm not alone
    These faces facing me

These lyrics hit real hard the past few days. Albums grown on me a lot after a few listens.

Man, if I didn't already think they're gonna have additional touring musicians on this upcoming tour, I definitely do after hearing the album. I could be completely wrong but I think it's coming.

If they do and one of them isn’t Paul Meany, imma riot.

So do we think this will be the number one album for this upcoming week? I'm afraid the soundtrack for A Star Is Born is going to be some competition.

My vinyl keeps getting delayed and I’m almost certain my UPS driver just forgot to drop it off this morning.

When I woke up, my tracking showed it about 20 min away at a nearby UPS location and delivery was set for today with the tracker bar almost all the way to the right.

About an hour ago, I saw UPS truck go down my street but he never stopped at my house and now my delivery is set for Monday and the tracker bar is reset to the middle.

    What the fuck?

I’d call the odds low for TOP - every GaGa fan in the country will buy that (as they should, as she’s brilliant), as well as random people who see the movie and decide it’s the best thing ever (as they probably should, as it looks brilliant and I couldn’t be more excited to see it). I’m obviously a huge TOP fan, but Lady GaGa is the sort of artist who played the Super Bowl. If her sales translate at all to that, it won’t be close.

Yeah, Trench dropped below the soundtrack on iTunes. I’d say any other week they’d be a shoo in.

Third listen through, I really think I love every song on here. The softer moments like “Neon Gravestones,” “Bandito,” “Leave the City” and the end of “Chlorine” are probably my favorites on the record. This is like a complete 180 from Blurryface where “Goner” was the only ballad.

I know Tyler mentioned in interviews he really wanted to get into the headspace he was in when he wrote the self-titled indie debut, and maybe knowing that is just in my head, but it’s the closest comp to it. The record seems really poetic and slow and introspective and subdued. Even the songs that seem like they could be radio friendly have purposeful down tempo changes and really quiet/slower parts. Which is also true for the first record. And which honestly, I find fantastic.

Absolutely. They’re going to blow it out of the water with sales because of all the merch bundles on their website. You can’t buy any merch solo, it’s all bundled with a digital copy of the album which counts towards sales. It’s exactly how Fall Out Boy went #1 with MANIA.

Idk I think I like this even less than the last one, which I wasn’t huge on either. Regional At Best/Vessel I absolutely loved though. I feel like I’m in the minority on this considering how huge Blurryface/Heathens/Trench have been.

This band usually frustrates me some directions they take, but I was pretty impressed with most of this. Usually just into a few songs off of their albums but this feels like the opposite

Didn’t realize all of that counted. Very curious to see what happens. It was sold out today at our local Target, whereas that soundtrack only had a small section dedicated to it with a lot of copies still there. Well I’m rooting for them. I’ve bought it twice with my bundle and iTunes.

Yeah bought mine at Target today. Two spots for it on the shelf and one for that soundtrack. Went to Best Buy first without knowing they stopped selling cds lol.

FWIW hitsdailydouble has early projections of 175k total for this and 160k for Star Is Born

Haha forgot Best Buy stopped selling them. Didn’t Blurryface do 186K it’s first week?

So I can’t decide if I love this or [Untitled] more. I just know both are AOTY contenders for me and my ears are very glad.

Hmm Wikipedia says 147k. I guess I'm surprised if this is projected more, but they kinda kept gaining momentum. I think Heathens was pretty big for them wasn't it? I never cared much for that song so I'm not sure haha

Ah gotcha. Lol not sure where I got that number from.. But yeah I think that one was pretty big on the radio, haha even though it's not one of my favorites.

Dang, the sales projections between those both are much closer than I expected. Then again, I wonder if they truly can build all the merch preorders into their estimates or if that’s all added in after.
