Pretty much hit the nail on the head. It’s been city specific. Some markets they sell out immediately and resale was very high, but some shows didn’t completely sell out (upper level tickets left) and some shows had really low resale. (I think it’s important to not just look at sell outs but also resale prices). They weren’t playing to empty arenas by any means. Every show I went to was still pretty full. By comparison, I’d say it’s selling better than Fall Out Boy’s MANIA arena tour but definitely not as well as Panic’s last two US legs did (or how Emotional Roadshow did in 2016-17). Chlorine has been picking up steam but nothing has been a hit like from Blurryface. I’m okay with that. They’re still doing very well overall. I got picked for Denver presale and my friend gave me a code to use for Las Vegas. I’ll also coincidentally be in Tulsa the day before the show there, so I’m probably gonna go because it’s the last date.
Tried getting seats for the Denver show and had terrible luck. Every time I selected seats and added them to my cart, I'd get a "Sorry, another fan has beat you to those seats!" message, the map would refresh and I'd have to enter my code again. Tried probably 30-40 times and had no luck, so tried for GA and got them right away. Guess my mom is going to have to stand on the floor with me! The Vegas show was through AXS and was trying for GA...a little stressful, kept losing my place in line, but eventually got through around 11:20.
Very fascinated how you two are able to do so many of these shows all across the country. Do you work? Go to college and skip school? No judgment, just true curiosity.
I'm 30 years old and have a career working for the corporate office of a major restaurant chain. I cover a territory of 7 states right now (although in the past I've had as many as 15-16 states in my territory at once). I travel a lot for work as it is, so sometimes I'm able to line up shows with my work trips (although with my new territory it's not as easy, but I have Texas now so lots of opportunities there). Otherwise, I get to keep all of my flight/hotel/rental car reward points & miles, and since I fly Southwest almost exclusively, and they have a very generous rewards system, I use all my points to go to shows. That's not to say I haven't racked up an insane amount of debt too...YOLO
For example, on this upcoming tour I'll be doing Denver, Vegas, and Tulsa. Denver is home, Vegas is insanely cheap to fly to from Denver and with a group of friends, hotels are cheap. Tulsa I will happen to be in town for a workshop, so I'm staying 1 extra day for that show. EDIT: Also, the number of friends I've met across the country due to this band means I have lots of connections for free places to stay. Columbus, Cleveland, Detroit, New York, Houston, Dallas, Northern Cali, Southern Cali, Boise, Milwaukee, Chicago...I'd be able to crash with friends in any of those places (plus we'd likely be going to the show together anyway)
Tour starts again tomorrow night in Tampa. Misterwives as opening act (I'm very, very excited about this). The Hype seems to be picking up some steam. Excited to see what (if any) changes to the set. Would love to see Heavydirtysoul and Guns for Hands return. Curious to see if all 14 songs will still be played off of Trench or if they will cut any.
Haven't seen anything about Tyler & Josh but I'm sure they will. I hope they do a Blurryface Tyler with the black neck and red hat. Bought the Ned one. Not sure if it's going to be on Amazon or anywhere else.
leaving st louis for the 17 hour drive to the mohegan sun show in a couple hours. Its wild that I finally get to hear fall away live on thursday
