The whole time during "Never Take It" I was just going "please don't rap please don't rap" because it was so dope
The guitar solo at the end caught me so off guard. Also, I think it might be the most direct lyrics on the album
Can someone please end my misery and remind me what song “Good Day” interpolates? EDIT: The Hey Song! I finally thought of it. Brings me back to my pep band days lol
Really disappointed in this as I loved Trench. Never Take It might be the only track I'm genuinely super keen on.
The second listen to this was entirely different. I went from “Ok, this is kind of solid” to “Oh wait, I might love this whole thing.”
Choker really clicked for me in the context of the album. Loving this. Just really wish he didn't rap in The Outside lol
Redecorate is so good, I can’t handle it. I love that the opening and closing tracks on this album are complete polar opposites from what we typically expect from a TOP opening or closing track.
i was a little unsure about "choker" at first myself and now i'm like fuck yes, "choker," what a song
It still feels a bit out of place as track 2 for me? I almost think if Shy Away and Choker were swapped, it would be sweet.
I’m also pleasantly surprised by the rapping here. The end of Choker is the weakest by far in that department, but No Chances and Redecorate really feature some of his best rapping ever. Redecorate has Kate Tempest vibes and I absolutely love it. Those two songs really take the album to another level.
The beginning of Mulberry Street reminds me a lot of another song but I can’t think of the song and it’s driving me insane.
I think Mulberry Street is a good hybrid of The Judge and Legend. The beginning definitely sounds like Legend to me.
Tyler is not a good rapper, even his best raps are some of the worst raps. He should just be getting features if he needs that part in there because he sounds soooooooooooo corny every time
eh imo his rapping really improved between blurryface and trench. "neon gravestones" is a highlight of this band's discog
