Seriously, "Saturday" is a very catch earworm. I can totally see this being a popular summer single. Can't get that chorus out of my head.
People are gonna say it's too simple, but Tyler Joseph really put the lyric "Life moves slow on the ocean floor / I can't feel the waves anymore / Did the tide forget to move? / I just pray that I'm not losing you" in the 2nd verse and damn, that shit hit. The lyrics are actually quite depressing for such a happy song I feel.
If somebody were to possibly be looking for an album like this, say today, on Wednesday, and it doesn’t come out until Friday, and they previously went to the “Kingdom” but now that Kingdom doesn’t exist, where might one go these days?
Somebody sent me the file with the snippets but I kinda just wanna wait til I can hear the whole thing. I've heard it's out there, just waiting for one of my clique friends to come through with a link!
Album ranking so far, Haven't heard Never Take It or Redecorate yet 1. Formidable 2. No Chances 3. Shy Away 4. Choker 5. The Outside 6. Saturday 7. Good Day 8. Mulberry Street 9. Bounce Man
What a fun album. Don’t have those two missing songs yet but everything was solid on first listen and a half
Ok I’ve listened to the full thing several times now and had the chance to absorb it. It’s exactly the type of album I needed from them - a quick burst of color after this dark year we were living in. It’s nothing more and nothing less. And because of that, they did a really good job. They really mastered their craft on this album. I love how it’s them not taking themselves so seriously for once. The Outside, Never Take It, No Chances, and Redecorate are great songs.
Honestly, I think so far I’d rank the first two songs on the album at the bottom of my list. I really do like every track, but I think 1 & 2 might be the weakest ones here. The last two, however...what an ending!!
Yeah, as someone who’s always felt Tyler’s rapping is more corny than “deep” or whatever, that’s always been my biggest impediment to being a much bigger fan of this band. Trench is my favorite TOP because it doesn’t emphasize that side of them as much, and has a lot of great instrumentation and songwriting to help counterbalance the corny parts. So far though, this album is solid. I definitely feel like in some ways it’s their most “pop” to date, but they execute that sound in a way that feels genuine to them.
