It's pretty cool how this song came together. From the Genius page: Tyler Joseph revealed this song was originally made by Blanket Approval. He happened upon them randomly online and loved the song, but wished the bridge was the chorus. He reached out to the band and asked to mess around with the song, resulting in a collab between the two. Tyler further stated that he and the band would receive splits of the record, as well as setting them up with a publisher for their music.
Wish I would’ve grabbed tickets to the show tonight. Hoping they do a Backdoor Columbus show at some point before they take a little break
The Enter Shikari comparison earlier was spot on, another band I had in mind is also The 1975. Just the way all three started in one lane or scene, then kept expanding their sound to the point their albums are all over the place stylistically and they can't be confined to a single genre anymore. Some chord progressions give me Mike Shinoda/Linkin Park vibes as well, guess that must be the shared Radiohead influence
Yeah I'm finally getting around to giving it some time too and it's not approaching their best work but it does serve really well as a companion to Clancy. Favorite on first couple of listens is Days Lie Dormant but the whole thing is very solid It seems crazy that they left Drag Path off of the album though, it works so well as a closer
This album is so great. "City Walls" managed to outdo my expectations for the ending song to the lore. "Center Mass" is a freaking rollercoaster ride and I love it. "Drum Show" and "The Contract" were excellent singles. I have no complaints. It's in my top 3 favorite albums of theirs.
I doubt either of the above songs gets any Grammy recognition - and Breach was released past Grammy eligibility - but at the same time, how can the Grammys ignore the biggest rock act in music for each of the past two years? I would pay money for a live performance of The Line at the Grammys.
This album grew on me like crazy, it's right up there with their best imo. Definitely helped seeing the tour, the songs all rip live... and I got to be one of the people that holds Josh's drum platform in the crowd lol
I thought it was great. They did right by the original, but also added their own tiny splash in there to kind of make it their own style.
