Speaking of Low Winter Sun, this was right around the same time. I remember all of the local talent and crew members being so hyped about a serialized drama being filmed in Detroit in the hopes it would take off during the height of our film tax incentive program. Then Rick Snyder cut it off at the knees, this show got shitcanned (wasn’t very good in the first place), and it was all over.
This show's entire identity of "law-abiding citizen becomes a drug dealer" was overshadowed by Breaking Bad.
I remember people not being able to shut up about Weeds when it came out. I never watched it, but I still remember it being talked about a bunch even if it was overshadowed by Breaking Bad.
The first two seasons, maybe three, were good of Weeds. That show had such an insane decline and the ending is one of the worst endings in TV history. They made her character so incredibly unlikable.
