Maybe this? I found a Reddit post from a few months ago re Turnstile playing in Tel Aviv in ‘17, but Daniel responded they were doing a show with an anti-IDF org in the city and proceeds went to Palestine. https://www.reddit.com/r/turnstile/comments/1oi7eee/tel_aviv/
There is a CLEAR difference between playing Israel in 2017 and not addressing it (cough cough Radiohead), playing Israel in 2017 and donating the proceeds to Palestine, and playing Israel in the present day. The second option is no harm no foul.
The important distinction is whether they engaged with any Israeli cultural institutions that are subject to the cultural boycott, which you would assume they didn't if they played a DIY show, but then you look it up and the venue was "The Gagarin Club" which seems to mostly host epic Israeli rave dance parties. Kids Insane (which is literally just a band) seems to play most of their shows at the Tmuna theater which participates in the Israel Festival in Jerusalem which is subject to the cultural boycott.
would've taken a Spiritbox win in the metal category too, but i'm pumped to see Birds get some Grammy love
Rock album of the year is WILD! DIY hardcore for the masses. It is such a killer record front to back. Very happy to see the love and recognition. Hopefully they get some new folks checking it out.
With as well as the last album did I was kinda surprised their Spotify listeners always hovered around a million. Nice to see them up to 2.5 now
Really love that Freaky Franz is permanently rocking turnstile merch. He’s like the mark hoppus of turnstile. Undisputed #1 fan.
