Turnstile - Never Enough (June 6, 2025) • Page 66

  1. Okay, I definitely like this more on second listen, I think my main issue is that the "interlude" portions are more subdued and ethereal and contemplative where a lot of what I really liked about GLOW ON was how dancy those parts were. Like, when I saw them on that tour the kids were moshing to I Wanna Dance With Somebody before the band came out and that felt extremely appropriate and on theme, not as much with this one. Still super fun and good just not as very special as GLOW ON felt

I’m starting to come around on the interludes from a record perspective, BUT, I think Turnstile should find a way to play those parts live at their shows. I am not exactly sure what they are doing currently, I think D. Fang has a pad he plays that has the recorded intros/outros. I don’t know if Brendan would want to stand in front of a keyboard, but I think they lose some of their impact in a live format when no one is playing anything. If they had a keys player in the band they could ad-lib a bit and turn them into a dance moment for the crowd.

    time is happening…..

Popping in to say that this album (especially the ambient intros/outros) really hit(s) when you’re stoned on the patio and it’s 80 degrees

This is a perfect album & I think down the line in a few years that will be the consensus.

I create content for some of your favorite artists

I find all the atmospherics dull and drag this down. Glow On far better

Sunshower is the only outro I could do without. Big hater of that panflute. Assuming that’s a panflute. Either way.

So on first listen of this I thought it was really good but definitely not as immediate as Glow On. Tonight, on a whim I decided to go see the visual album in theaters and holy SHIT was that a gamechanger, it unlocked the album for me so much and I'm absolutely loving it now, I listened to it again driving home and pretty much every song was hitting for me

Top three at the moment are I Care, Sole and Time is Happening but there's really not a weak point imo. Maybe about equal with Glow On I would say. I can't WAIT to see them live now, especially at a hometown show. I'm not sure if this is the case everywhere but EVERYONE is talking about these guys in Maryland right now and it's so fun

Yeah, I like this but for a band that have taken big steps forward with every previous album I'm kind of disappointed. I'm still hoping that it will grow on me after a while though.

Obviously not a bad album, but finally got my first listen in and I am quite underwhelmed.

I listened to this in full five times yesterday. Probably the most I've spammed an album since Glow On. I really wish I could see the movie. This album takes everything from Glow On and expands upon it in a way that isn't jarring but continues to push the boundaries of this band as we've come to expect from them. After losing a core member, I wasn't expecting them to entirely reinvent their sound or smack me over the head with a hardcore scat/ Jazz album. This album feels much more intentional and emotional. It takes the space created with Glow On and fully maximizes it. Never sounding like carbon copy or too familiar. Look Out for Me is one of their best songs period.

I like this album significantly more than glow on. I think they’ve struck a perfect balance on this one

They fixed your brain when you were young.

Listened to this while doing a foggy morning run along the coast. Pretty sure I astral projected a few times during some of the interludes.

Stayed at a Holiday Inn in Hauppauge for 3 nights for a wedding we did at our friends fiancé’s parents house in Coram. Took the Train to Manhattan on Friday. Yard wedding on Saturday with the reception at a venue on lake Ronkonkoma. Went to a new speakeasy very close to that. Sunday went down to Fire Island Lighthouse and the beach there. Drove the ocean parkway through Long Beach then cut up to the Arlo Hotel in Williamsburg for like a “nice” hotel for the last night. That area was too swanky for me lol. Cool to experience the area though. I got a good 6.5 mile run in down by the River and up and over the Williamsburg bridge. Now we drive back to Alabama……….

(middle/inland Long Island was “whatever” to me where we were at. But the beach and light house area where we went was amazing. Not bad coming from having been to Alabama beach’s. Which are pristine, just no light houses. Wish we did more costal stuff, like north/north east island.)

If we would have gotten up here sooner on Thursday it’s plausible I could have saw Turnstille at the show in Brooklyn that Hayley came out for!

mine love NEVER ENOUGH, DREAMING (horns), and LOK OUT FOR ME because I aggressively headbanged at a stop light with them in the car when it was as single so now by default I have to do it every time we drive any where.
