Actually I take it back there’s no hardcore grunt on this record is ass.

This is def the kind of record that’s gonna make kids wanna play guitar, drums, start bands, etc. It just makes me think of those early teen years of my life. Amazing album.

 

Had this on in the car and it absolutely rips in that setting. Blast in the car all summer long album

 

I haven't been able to get into Turnstile and have been trying since Time & Space in 2018. Each release I think, this will be it, I'll get it now. But every time I just get bored and it feels like a chore to listen to it. Same with this record after 3 or 4 playthroughs. IMO it's just really boring and bland. The vocals also really take me out of it, but musically it just sounds like by the numbers punk rock with indie interlude moments.

I'm happy that a band from the scene can get as big as they are (totally wish them nothing but the best as they all seem like good people) but I just don't understand why they are so popular.

Day 2 of hearing NEVER ENOUGH in full. Still rips. The horns are fantastic.

 

Few runs of this and I'm in the Glow On part 2 camp.
Not saying band hasn't honed their "sound" but I feel like I'd heard most of it before. I was hoping the synth pads and electronic elements would extend futher than root notes and big intros/outros. That said, the record isn't bad*, don't dislike it but it's simply not as good or impactful as GO for me. I hope it's a grower!

*The horns on Dreaming, however, are awful and I grew up loving ska punk so have heard my fair share of bad trumpet.

 

I am personally not offended by said horns. Love em. Wish there were more horns. And Franz :(
