This definitely feels like more of a late night vibing album to me

    Got my comparisons on lock.

    Never Enough - Mystery
    Sole - Endless
I Care - New Heart Design
Dreaming - Don't Play (with trumpets)
Light Design - More synthy Mystery
Dull - Holiday with a longer intro
Sunshower - Humanoid / Shake It Up (W/ no Franz on lead vocals) + pan flute outro
Look Out for Me - Sleep Now in the Fire (but not political)
    Ceiling - Pitch shift
Seein' Stars - If Toto did "Underwater Boi"
    Birds - TLC
Slowdive - Black Sabbath goes punk
Time Is Happening - Lonely Dezires
Magic Man - Alien Love Call but more emo and no Blood Orange

Could have used a Franz lead vocal track on this one.

That being said, I still love this album lol

where would i be if i was my brain Prestigious

I think this is closer to Time & Space than Glow On. When it’s just the guitars, bass, and drums it’s still very much a hardcore band doing their thing. His vocals are more accessible and the atmospheric shit kinda covers the hXc stuff a little too much. It’s very telling that after the super airy lead song it leads to them doing a stereotypical 2-step moment.

I felt my whole body fill with whatever chemical creates FOMO looking at this

I thought the same thing, and I think he would have killed it on Time Is Happening.

For me this is 100% a long run album, when I need to get into a flow for a 5-6 mile stretch I will definitely turn to this.

Seems like "we" have been talking about this since the nonstop era with the 311 comments haha.

Ha! Yeah, I get that. But this will definitely carry me through the middle 45 of my planned 90-minute run tomorrow morning.

First impressions for me - not entirely what I expected!

I do wish more songs would get in and get out - intros/outros are fine, but sometimes you just want the immediacy.

I feel like a lot of the riffs on this are a step down from what we may have come to expect. I know there was a concern when Brady left that some of the guitar parts would suffer, and while I do not think that is entirely the case, I was left wanting some more interesting melodies. I think of a song like Generator, and there is just nothing close to that on this album.

I think they under-utilized D. Fang on this as well, could have let him off the leash a bit.

All this being said, blasting this in the car on a warm summer night is going to sound sooo nice. Very much looking forward to that experience. And I do think these songs will mix well into a live show, and may take on a life of their own when performed.

Without music, life would be a mistake. Supporter

I thought this way for a while until Glow On came out which sucked me in. Not sure I’d appreciate the older albums as much if I hadn’t heard some of those songs live over the past 5 years.

I like this way of putting it.

if glow on is a work out album then NE is a hardcore vibes record for hanging out by the pool (which is what I will be doing with my Friday evening)

    (T&S is a ‘I’m being chased’ album)

Love the album as a whole, but the last two songs are pretty underwhelming. Kinda just ends things with a thud.

On my second listen and like others have said I’m enjoying it but I think I prefer Glow On. Time (+ Space heh) will tell.

  21. That Turnstile/Turnover tour was so strange. Love a varied bill, but that was an ill advised mashup lol. Wonder how the opener, Reptaliens, is holding up these days. They certainly did not catch on

Giving it the run test tonight. It is giving long run trail vibes more than a couple miles. Glow On is a killer gym / running album. All the back catalogue is.
