If they’re going to have Hayley sing on Seein’ Stars, I’m not sure why they chose to mix it to where you can barely hear her and it’s not more like this. Seems like a waste to me. (Ignore the caption of this lol)
Not sure which theater you went to, but there were quite a few laughs around me when that thing came crashing down outta the ceiling haha
I wish I was as high on this as the rest of the thread. I've only ever been a casual fan of the band anyway and maybe I'll like it more with time, but it didn't immediately grab me the way it has everyone else. Absolutely love the rollout and image/vibe/swag of the band though.
Thoughts after the theater showing. Killer album with an radical visual component to complement it. I was quite impressed by the amount of time, dedication, and people it took to pull that movie off. Not an easy task. Well done Turnstile. No one else is doing it like they are. It's so thoughtful of them to decide what my album of the summer will be for me already. Turnstile is insane in the best way, and I won't forget the euphoric feeling of getting to ride this wave of peak creativity with them while embracing my own mid-30's madness. Our crowd was great. Some small clapping between songs. No one being loud during the quiet parts. Good vibes. My only gripe was the mix sounded off. You could tell from the start of Never Enough that it was weird. Kinda like the entire sound was coming from a center channel and it wasn't surrounding the space like a movie does, or even a concert film. Not that I expected a Dolby mix for it (though they did release one), and it didn't detract from the film. If anything, it gave me something to look forward to on the second listen, which sounded even better. Turnstile Summer commencing.
About to head to the gym and have my first listen. Wish me luck! From what I’m reading, this whole album just seems more focused and very intentional. Looking forward to diving in.
Oh man, using the sample of Randy shouting at Carver in the hospital from The Wire season 4 is a sure fire way to win me over.
my first impression is that they've done a good job balancing faster/heavier stuff with compelling new sounds. I think the album is cohesive and surprising, and a lot of fun to listen to. it really does feel like the album of the summer
