still haven't gotten anything about the all birds variant which is fine I expected it to ship later since it went up for order later
Yeah, checked today and I'm still in pre-shipment. Watched Fallon. Curious to listen to them both on the album because they're not back-to-back on NE and they must have mashed them up because the recordings are longer. Great stuff. Haven't been this hyped for an album release in quite some time! This was the perfect amount of time for an album announcement and release. 3 months or so is perfect. Absolutely professional roll out of the film and features. Gonna listen to the Zane interview now!
This band is so good with aesthetics. Meg's guitar matching the carpet and everyone's outfits matching the tones of the backdrop were nice subtle touches
New song is probably the weakest of the singles so far for me, but I'm not sure if it's because of the late night show production being shitty or the song just kinda feeling like...a post-punk incarnation of something I've already heard before done better with a band like High Vis. Again, just solidifies I need to hear this album all the way through before I make any broad judgments.
My daughter has moved on from the chorus of Never Enough to Seeing Stars. She belts it out in the bathroom. "AND NOW I'M SEEIN STAAARSSS AGAAAAAIN" and I stood outside the door for 2 solid minutes listening to her basically mumble the verses and then get back to shouting. She loves the rainbow on the cover. I hope there's more singalong stuff like that on the record. Still haven't heard the Fallon performance above or Look Out For Me, which is the one track every review mentions.
My kid and I have been playing birds on the way home and hearing him shout the not meant to fly alone part is the best. I showed him the video and he’s all “dad these guys are going NUTS”
I Care gives me huge Diamond Youth energy, gotta imagine Brendan and Daniel were able to bring some of the melodic gold from DY over to this record
According to setlist.fm they haven't played "Can't Deny It" since 2019. Would love it if they brought that out of retirement for the next tour.
I saw Diamond Youth a bunch when I was in college, how am I just now realizing that Brendan and Daniel played in that band?
