Haha I listened to the songs before reading the thread. I think I like Seein’ Stars better. Both songs rule. The guitar tone for the solo is Seein’ Stars is unreal. I wasn’t going to mention it but it’s happened in Never Enough and Seein’ Stars: both songs’ solos have a Polyphia vibe to them, in tone and the way Pat (I assume?) is playing. Definitely a different feel on the solos with Brady gone. Not a traditional hardcore feel at all.
Off topic, but has anyone else heard a little bit of Hella Good by No Doubt in the main guitar part in Birds?
The new songs sound like Turnstile. If I had to guess, they flow with the album overall and are just a small tease for what's on the album.
Does anyone know what Meg's role is with the band? Does she contribute to the songwriting on the new album or is she more of a touring guitarist? I wonder what kind of influence she'd bring to the band's sound.
Meg's an official member now from what I've seen. Dunno what specific influences she's bringing to turnstile but she has also played in Big Cheese and Chubby and the Gang among a bunch of other UK hardcore bands.
I can’t get over how Stars/Birds in one video is the band saying that they’re going to be everything for everyone. The music is obvious enough, but the visuals ratchet up the ante.
online ceramics/turnstile collab going to hit different jk we all know it’s going to be carpet company collab
Turnstile is definitely daughter-core. My 3 year old calls Never Enough her song. Tried to show her the other two yesterday but she just yelled at me until I put Never Enough on.
Sorry if this derails, but that age was so sweet with my daughter. One time, while driving 40 minutes to meet her mother we listened to “Boys Will Be Boys” by Dua Lipa 6 (yes I counted) and “Cell Out” by NOFX 8 times. The song would end and she would quietly say “again daddy”. Thank you for reminding me of that time, I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.
Can confirm both my 3 and 9 year old daughters go wild for turnstile. TLC was my oldest daughter’s jam during Covid.
4 year old listens to Never Enough on repeat. First thing out of his mouth when we get in the car is “can we listen to the new Turnstile?” The answer is always yes. I’m on a work trip currently, so I told my wife there were two new songs. She said he likes Seein’ Stars but that he LOVED Birds. Head banging in the backseat the whole time.
These two songs have clicked with me, excited for the rest. Side note: been listening to Nonstop Feeling a lot this week, album rules
My daughter LOVES Never Enough. I will stand in the hallway of an adjacent room and listen to her sing the chorus to herself, knowing the second I walk in she’s gonna stop. Music is the best.
Same with my 5 yo son. Funny enough a few days ago we were doing “no rules” pokémon painting where he could use any color, and to explain no rules I showed him the think you should leave jokes song and he got completely obsessed with it and knows every word.
The dumb jokes in this thread have been phenomenal. Finding out there are so many dads here just makes it make sense now.
Off topic slightly: I just watched their tiny desk again and realized that that version underwater boi sounds like a great big pile of leaves
I have an event early enough in the day to possibly make this happen. I hope they aren't going on right at 6pm though, because then I'm likely shot.
