How do I join the dancing cult shown in first 40 seconds of SEEIN STARS? They have things figured out and I want in
I guess maybe we're just hearing different things? I definitely hear this as a progression, especially "Seein' Stars". Brendan's vocals don't soar on Glow On anything like they do here. And the way they just sit in the groove of the song, letting it breathe, is something they would not have had the patience for on their previous albums. On first listen I kept waiting for it to change up into something new because that's what Turnstile would do, but it's not what they chose to do. Even the guitar solo draws from the disco/funk influence that the rest of the song does.
Expected more evolution of sound but these singles are decent. Someone said there was an instant 'wow' when first hearing "Blackout" and I agree, I'm not getting it on these singles. Still lots more to come so we'll see how it shapes out
Just saying that these songs sound like Glow On with a slight tone shift and I was expecting something more exciting. Like many people here, I was blown away by the TLC EP and Im not getting anything close to those feelings from this. That being said, I still trust this band enough to be excited about the full release.
yoooooo that second half of "birds" got me jumping outta my computer chair throwing fists and knocking frames off the wall. that groove goes HARD wtf!!!!
I dunno. I’ve heard enough artists that sound eerily close to a band I already love, but lack the X factor to feel really special, to understand the stance. Hell even early Turnstile still does very little for me to this day, even if much of their core sound was already there. With that said, I’m hoping folks warm up to these songs with time because this is a fun band to get really hyped about and will be a bummer if people can’t get on board
these new songs are bangers. the first one sounds like a mix of head automatica and men, women, and children. i dig it. and "birds" obviously spanksssss. i like these much more than "never enough."
Not knocking anyone here in particular but sometimes I think people can just be really hard to please. These songs are fun. I just wanna have a good time man. I’m happy
My girlfriend hardly ever listens to this type of music and picked up it was Mystery-like within a minute lol
Not going to continue talking in circles around the first part, but wholly agree on the second. I love the fact that I can get this hyped about about 2 songs that sound as completely different from each other as "Seein' Stars" and "Birds" but they're by the same band and back-to-back on the album without feeling out of place.
I side with those of you who feel that these three singles are lesser versions of songs they've already made. The silver lining is that I won't be sick of them by the time the record comes out because I have little desire to re-listen to them. Sorry.
