Is Seeing Stars and Birds better than that Mystery 2.0 track? Yeah. Am I blown away? Not at all.. Birds is definitely the best of the three though.

I’m still looking forward to this album but man.. I remember being floored when I first heard Holiday and Underwater Boi. I was hoping for that same feeling but maybe I just need to lower my expectations (which is also depressing for a band with as much potential as Turnstile) ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

On its own I don't love Seein' Stars but it would be sweet if it was sandwiched between Birds and another fast track, but we'll see. Birds is the good stuff, just wish it was longer tbh. Still dying to hear Track 2.

Even if it was Glow On 2.0, who wouldn't want that lol Glow On rules

Both song are great. Birds is the one I've been waiting for though.

Personally I hate when bands make albums that sound like they made them.

This is exactly how I feel. Each album release was a growth that blew me away with excitement of what else could possibly be there. This is just bsides. I still like it but there’s no wow factor.

They have major label backing now with a lot riding on the success of this album.

Not saying that should affect the artistic process, but it might be a factor.

Also, I feel like if they did change their sound dramatically it would piss off a large portion of the fanbase anyway.

Personally, I get pretty hyped if a band makes a song that sounds like a carbon copy of something they made 4-5 years ago!

    idk man

These are fun for different reasons and that's all I got. Birds is already stuck in my head and I've only listened to it once.

  12. they’ve been with roadrunner since time+space no?

  13. All the “Turnstile sounds like Turnstile” stuff is as weak as it is for any band people make that argument for. Do you guys just like every song by every band you like? It’s okay for people to find something in one song that they don’t another even if they sound similar

I wouldn't call any of these a carbon copy, and "Seein' Stars" doesn't sound like much of anything from Glow On, imo.

going from nonstop feeling to time and space to glow on had huge growth between each album as a band. This just sounds exactly like glow on. Not a bad thing but they did this already.

    B-B-B-Bingo!

The production is solid, I’ll give them that, but these really do sound like b-sides to Glow On. I was expecting them to go even further in exploration of sounds given the time and money they had. I’m still looking forward to the record but my excitement isn’t all that high.

Here’s to hoping there’s some real curveballs and/or barn burners on this record!

I believe so, but it feels like the stakes are higher for this one. There has been more of a push from the label, plus the band has a much bigger following than before they released Glow On.

idk doesn’t sound like b-sides to me, just sounds like a cool follow-up to glow on that drops right between the beginning of meteorological and astronomical summer. a summer slapperino for sure!

    My hot take is:

They’re ok. Was expecting more out of these songs. The new NFG single leaves me most excited.

Stars just reminds me of Underwater Boi tbh. The guitars on Birds sound like a few tracks off Glow On to me as well but it’s not as bothersome as when I first heard Never Enough.

That track is literally Mystery. I thought the band was trolling and was gonna switch it up big time near the end but nope.

Totally cool if people are stoked with these tracks - I just wish I was too :(

People can like what they like, but when the critique isn't articulated much beyond "this song sounds too much like this band" then it's pretty flimsy.

  22. 3 songs of a 14 song album. Three unique songs that have elements of their previous songs in them, which makes sense given it's the same band, but still sound wholly Turnstile doing their style of music ... very well! ... little surprised by some of the overt negativity.

Nonstop Feeling > GLOW ON showcased immense musical progression. I hoped said progression would continue, but I struggle to hear anything in this rollout that stands out. Well, so far anyway - we still have 11 songs to hear.

Again, I’m sure the album will be enjoyable, but would I be interested if these songs weren’t released under the Turnstile banner? Sadly, probably not.

Absolutely love both of these. Seeing Stars will go hard as fuck live, a perfect vibe shift track. This album is going to be awesome.

Yeah, I like all 3 songs but am also not as blown away as I had hoped. Just doesnt feel like much of a step up and doing the same thing over again will always have diminishing returns.

Honestly, I like the song that they did for I Think You Should Leave more than any of the singles so far.
