Fly Again, New Heart Design, and Blackout were my immediate favorites of the ones I hadn’t heard I love how this record creates such a different vibe than their others while still remaining so Turnstile. Countless moments here that other bands wouldn’t even think to try
Not sure if this was previously posted but just came across this article on the Guardian. Turnstile: can hardcore punk’s biggest band conquer the mainstream? | Pop and rock | The Guardian
I've listened to the TLC ep so many times since it came out so been searching for this leak every day for the last week. Doesn't disappoint and FYI, I never liked this band until TLC came out so bandwagon follower for sure but just love the way they sound on the newer stuff compared to the straight hardcore sound.
I'd be surprised if they don't blow up with this record. Not sure what they would release as a hit single, though. Maybe "Holiday?"
Unrelated to the album but with these guys on tour next month and Angel Du$t on the Mannequin Pussy tour...who is going to play the songs for the 3/5ths of AD that is Turnstile?
Anecdotal evidence only, but ive got my girlfriend and roommate who don't normally dabble in their sound to really get into the singles and actually see them tonight at Irving so that probably means something
This is really sick but I have a few initial disappointments. Thought the EP was the perfect mix of hardcore and lighter elements and Im sad that the album leans more hardcore. I will also always be disappointed when TLC ends without the long outro. Might find a version of that song from the EP.
I’m gonna echo the disappointments. Though there are some real highs for me specifically w/ Dont play and Dance-off. I’m sad they didn’t do more with No Surprise.
I personally don’t love when albums have a mixtape-y vibe, which this very much has, but I’m currently fucking with all of these songs way too much to care. The record simply rips, Turnstile 2021 babyyy
No surprise is great but this album is a perfect mix of where they came from and where they’re headed.
She’s credited in the liner notes. Interestingly enough, she’s credited differently than Blood Orange though. The verbiage is different. I’m out of town so I can’t look at my record, but Blood Orange is credited with “guest vocals” and Julien is credited with “additional vocals” or something like that.
And to think the NIL named dropped these guys in Doom Boy before they inevitably blow up. NO WEAKNESSES
