Diiv, Wild Nothing, Beach Fossils, Minks, Ducktails, Real Estate, Pains of Being Pure At Heart, Fear of Men, Japanese Breakfast, Jay Som, The Drums, Wildhoney... If you don't actively listen to this stuff already, I doubt EVERYTHING will appeal to you but I'm sure something in there would be a decent enough jumping off point for ya. Hope that helps!
lets see what else ive got that joel didnt hit... slowdive, ride, swervedriver, a sunny day in glasgow, pity sex, coctaeu twins, my blood valentine, alcest (shelter is straight up shoegaze their other albums have black metal), m83 (mostly older stuff), silversun pickups idk theres a lot, some of those are the classics
Yeah, you nailed it. I was trying to focus on new stuff as that's always been an easy way for me to get into something if I know it's current but you hit the classics. I also for got about ASDIG which I need to listen to again.
Finally. somebody Edit: anyway, sorry for derailing this. Hope y'all find some good tunes through our recs. carry on!
Looks like I have a lot to check out! I've slowly been getting into dream pop and shoegaze. I love Peripheral Vision though, still one of my most regularly played albums - I heard it before really trying to dive into dream pop/shoegaze so that could be a factor too, but the combination of the lyrics, melodies, and overall vibe just works really well for me
I really wasnt trying to hate on this band either! I do find them a little derivative now that I've heard a lot of other stuff, but this was one of my most listened to records for a while. Like what you like, but an openness to check out new things is the key.
My apologies if it came across this way. I merely meant that I personally had nothing more to say beyond my initial post, and I was trying to engage people about a band I enjoy. That said, I think you could have responded to my post saying this, rather than writing four posts indrectly talking about me aha. I would be more than happy to actually discuss this with you, I just feel like both of us have gotten off on the wrong footing in this conversation and maybe misunderstood what each other were trying to do. I'm not trying to bury it, it should be talked about for sure, and I'm certainly happy for others to talk about it, but when you try talk about the music in a Turnover thread/news post, all you get are these replies from certain members, and often they get very hostile, acting like I shouldn't enjoy this band. It can be frustrating because it feels like you're just being shouted over, so naturally it's easy to get defensive.
I get it, don't worry. I'm not trying to take you down I'm just so bothered when people try to push aside serious allegations like this. Whether someone listens to the music or not I just want people to know that this is important and whether you want to listen or not it's your choice but at the very least this needs to be continually discussed.
All the bullshit aside, some people have heard Diiv for the first time as a result and I think that's awesome
Cool to see Hoops get some love. They're from my hometown, and Drew's been doing that project since he was like a Sophomore in high school.
Also, Turnover has gotten quite big. They're a gateway dream pop band now and I do think that is pretty cool.
There's a newish band from my university city (Birmingham, UK) that could really interest people who likes this kind of dream pop sound.
Possibility we are getting a new song on Wednesday titled "Super Natural". It'll apparently be on Will Yip's Black Cement label. Turnover is releasing a new song titled "Super Natural" on Wednesday. • r/poppunkers
Makes sense, I'm expecting citizen to come out on it as well, probably PBTT as well. I still don't know how I feel about this band, but That label may shape up to being one of my favorites.
