Eric soucy was a serial emotional abuser as said in a tweet that's gone around for the last year. That tweet was recently deleted which makes sense based on the timing of this post and him not appearing on stage. That's one of the biggest signs that this is now all cleared up
That statement was a lot better than many of the other recent ones (Moose Bl. Glad to see there isn't any language that really sympathizes with Eric. It may be late, but they at least brought it up before releasing their new music. Speaking of the new song, I like it a lot but I'm hoping the whole record isn't exactly like that. I do love the production though. It feels like a nice middle ground between Humblest Pleasures and PV.
Considering they address not saying something sooner was a mistake on their part I see no reason to be upset at this point
I've been pretty quiet about all Turnover related things, partially because I've been busy and mostly just checking threads I get notifs for and have been very distracted by the wave of incredible June releases, but also because the whole thing made me very uncomfortable because of how willing I have been to overlook the allegations against them because of how much I enjoy the band (they're probably my favorite band that have had allegations of anything like that made against them), and because I think part of that reason is that I didn't see emotional abuse as being "as serious" (which I know is not true), so I've just been trying to read what I can and take time to think about it. I'm glad to see they've finally made a statement and a decent one at that. I even think that I could accept Eric back in the band at some point if he really takes the necessary steps he needs to better himself, which will take time. But I'm glad they addressed this now and honestly at a time when their publicity is about to be at the highest (maybe I'm wrong but it seems like they could have more easily swept it under the rug if they did this 6 months ago and not right after they started releasing details about a new album). Overall I'm happy now though that I can go back to enjoying the band without that uncomfortable feeling. Haven't listened to the new song yet but this is one of my most anticipated right now. Should be interesting to see where they go from here.
Yea definitely Peripheral Vision in my opinion. Magnolia isn't bad but it doesn't stand out nearly as much imo.
Earlier stuff is different, I liked magnolia a bit but it's just grungy pop punk, melodies stuck out more than most bands from the scene tho
That album suffered in my opinion because they picked the literal 2 worst songs on the album to lead off with (Lose Control & TKO) and everyone had already decided it would be garbage before they heard it. The rest is good to great, and I Can Feel You is a top 5 Motion City song to me. (But I get where you're coming from, and the original point you were trying to make lol)
Song is up officially now on streaming services. I really like it. It's pretty much what I expected. Will definitely be a late night staple this summer. I wasn't a huge fan of the EP (and I'm not really sure why), so I'm glad I like this more. I do hope there's a little more variety on the full album, but I could see that going either way. Waiting for pre-orders to go up now. PV is one of my favorite records to listen to on vinyl. One of those albums that actually sounds better that way imo. (Also I'm listening to Magnolia now and it's pretty much exactly what I remember. Nothing bad but pretty average pop-punk tunes, especially when you listen to it after PV).
there's some really good songs on magnolia though. most of the time, seedwong, like a whisper i think that record is better than most of the pop punk stuff to come out in the last several years (in similar bands, not stuff like chumped)
