Seems they're in the studio with Will Yip right now. Will's been posting a few photos with the band to his story
Saw them supporting beach fossils last night and holy shit. The best I’ve seen them and such an improvement since I saw them in 2017. New songs hit, played more old stuff than I expected, and there were some amazing jam sessions. Just art
They need to figure out how to breathe some of that into their records again. I’ve given their albums more credit than others, but the most recent one just hasn’t stuck with me.
I totally get that. I was fine with the new album but seeing it live makes some of the songs make so much more sense
Saw them last week on the same tour and yeah Myself In The Way was awesome live. Also laughed when he said "we dont play this often" and played Hello Euphoria
The fact that this thread has such little conversation a year after release tells me all I need to know about their recent albums
This is album still unfortunately hasn’t grabbed me and I’ve liked all of their previous releases to some extent (including Altogether). Not fully sure if it’s the length of the songs or the lack of progression within the song structures, but I’ve tried up until last month to relisten. Still looking forward to whatever they do next!
Every time I feel like the album starts to get going an absolute snoozer appears that bores me to death. I probably really enjoy about 2/3s of this though.
They used to come through Cleveland all the time, they haven't played here since 2019. Kinda weird. This has grown on me, would see them again.
From PV to GN to Altogether, their work was getting stronger and stronger with every release, but this record broke that progression IMO. It’s not a bad record but it’s an underwhelming one for sure and yes - I do think Altogether is their best record as a whole.
Been playing some of their stuff at work before our speakers broke and Altogether is def my fav, followed by Good Nature, it was the other away around for a while but I think Altogether was more consistent, despite Good Nature having some higher highs and a better closer
Good Nature is my favorite. Butterfly Dream, Curiosity, Breeze, and Bonnie are all timers, probably all in my top 7 or so in their discog. I should toy with a different track order for altogether, because it starts strong and ends strong, but tracks 2-5 all occupy the same space/structure/BPM, and I feel like they need a breather or two in between them.
I've accepted that PV will probably never be topped for me but I did enjoy their newer songs live last time I saw them since they added some longer instrumental parts
