One of the generic songs from this album came on shuffle while I was driving home last night and it knocked me out better than Zquil, almost plowed right off the road. I do like Myself in Way, probably the only song on this that was worthy of recording. Big wasted Brendan Yates appearance though
I’m liking it more. I had less of an issue with sequencing after the first listen. The placement of the pre-release tracks didn’t help on the first go
Both TOTL and Little Oblivions are better than this album so yes insane take IMHO and she at least brings way more energy live than Turnover. I am also liking this a bit more now but it’s definitely my least favorite out of everything they have released, but that could change with even more listens.
My personal track list for this record (which IMO would be MUCH better as an EP) is: Myself In The Way Way Too Long People That We Know Pleasures Galore Fantasy Queen In The River Ain’t Love Heavy
Maybe I'm kind of biased because I really like Turnover (not maybe I'm very biased) but I've found that each of their albums serves a particular purpose in my life. With Myself In The Way, it's for music when I need to vibe while doing work, and it checks those boxes off pretty well. It's not going to topple my album of the year ranking or anything but it's still a nice time.
Really digging this, I like it a bit more than Altogether and around the same as Good Nature. I think they improved on the weaker songwriting of Altogether, but there's still something missing imo. Still thoroughly enjoyable though, very much a "slow Sunday afternoon around the house" kind of album and decent music to feel relaxed to. I don't think it's as boring / sleep-inducing as some are making it out to be though.
Idk I'm really loving this I've been listening all weekend. I don't think it's boring at all, there's a lot going on in these songs.
One of my only gripes is I was hoping for a much moodier/sexier time from a track called Pleasures Galore
This record has not been able to hook me in any meaningful capacity. I really think they had this sound on lock with Good Nature, but are now missing the hooks that made me really like that record.
This record is fine, but I likely won't come back to it. Personally I would rather listen to something like Real Estate if this is the sound I want.
Album is OK I guess? But man the tempos they've chosen for most, if not all, of these songs makes them all blend/sound the same.
I’ve been trying to force myself to like this album. Been a Turnover fan for a long time. I’d probably like this album more if I did harder drugs than weed. It’s got some good grooves and interesting production. Not in a rush to see them live again, which is fine because they skipped Cleveland on this tour. People are definitely going to continue to call their live show boring with these new songs.
