I enjoyed the last album a lot when it came out, but I really haven't gone back to it much at all since then and honestly can't remember most of it. I will defend Altogether though, which I think has aged really well. Haven't heard the new ones yet, but I'm excited for them.
Anyone who has gone: My doors are at 6, show starts at 7. What time would B&C go on? 8? Trying to stay home as long as possible to help our babysitter out with bedtime before heading out.
tigers jaw was roughly 7:00-7:30 Balance 7:45-8:30 Turnover 9:00-10:30 that was red rocks so your results may vary
It didn’t matter, our babysitter was early and my son was eager for us to go so I got here before Horse Jumper of Love even started. Appreciate it though!
How have the crowds been in other cities? In Birmingham, the show was great up until the last song of PV, the vibe had a major shift after the album was over and probably 20% or more of the crowd just straight up left. Absolute disrespect, and it seemed like the band noticed. However, they also did not do themselves any favors energy-wise after PV - the stage energy was also not there at all for the other songs and they didn't really try to introduce any hype around the new songs or anything coming up.
Yeah, Peripheral Vision set had energetic reactions and a was special performance. Immediately followed by a typical Turnover set (minus the closer). Some walk out after PV was done but nothing crazy.
I was one of these, and it was mostly around needing to get home before it got too late, but also I saw the setlist was two new songs, Humblest Pleasures, Supernatural, two songs off Myself In the Way that weren't favorites of mine, then Most of the Time. We left after Humblest Pleasures, and yeah, I feel bad, because we weren't the only ones, but I don't really regret it since they didn't do themselves a lot of favors with the second set.
Can only speak for the area I was in, but this was the first time in years that I think I had absolutely zero crowd complaints. Which purely by a numbers game means I was the problem The one-two punch of Stone Station and Tears of Change was rough, most people around us started filtering out around then. We wanted to stay til we got at least one GN song, so started walking down to the exit during Super Natural
have any of y'all that have gone done VIP for this run? i'm contemplating it for orlando and trying to figure out how early to show up lmao
Posting from the arena gig in Ontario. They ended up moving the stage to the middle and cut the floor in half. Still lots of empty seats but I ain’t mad at a show 10 min from my house.
Really starting to come around to the alt versions of the Peripheral Vision tracks. Where PV has always been a winter album to me, the alternative versions are like a humid summer. Really hittin now that it's the humid summer here. Kinda the same sort of vibes as It Looks Sad's sky lake (which is terribly underrated, much like the post-PV Turnover stuff actually).
I’m debating hitting up the Chicago show tonight. I am not the biggest fan of them live but I’d love to see Peripheral Vision in full. I like Good Nature and am not a fan of anything after that, but I think if I find a cheap ticket I’ll go.
I'd go. Good chance you may never hear certain PV songs again and the crowd energy is just different for those songs. People definitely left after the PV portion of the set too so not like you'd feel singled out if you leave early.
The last album was so forgettable - I’m glad they’re not continuing with that sound. I personally would love for them to continue with the sound of Altogether but oh well.
They were good tonight, at least for the Peripheral Vision portion of the set and when they played "Most of the Time" but immediately when the album ended the vibe shift was sooooo obvious (people were way less hyped) and a pretty decent amount people left.
I've never seen them live before this tour earlier this month - how are their more typical non-album-play live shows? Is everyone just super apathetic and waiting for the handful of songs they do like?
Last sentence hits their live experience on the head. I love this band so I'm singing and grooving the entire time! I also haven't seen them headline since 2021 so that could've changed, but it doesn't seem like it.
Yeah pretty much. Lots of energy for PV and GN songs but past that most of the show is usually a snooze fest in term of crowd engagement
It was so awesome seeing them play such a big show with full production like that. I find it funny that they don't even like say "hey we're going to play a new song that will be coming out soon" when they have this prime opportunity to try to build some hype. They can't be bothered haha But I thought the new songs sounded great, and the band sounded great the whole show. Really beautiful to be able to celebrate PV like that - it's just an undeniable classic.
