I genuinely didn't know reviewers get copies of albums that early. Damn I'm thirsty for info. I've avoided listening to them lately because I want to revisit everything nearer the release and fully appreciate the new album.
I know reviewers that have gotten albums months before even the announcement of records. Especially if it's a big publication and they're writing a feature length story on the band/album. A friend's friend who wrote for pitchfork had the last (not the most recent one) Alex G record quite a bit before anyone else had heard a song
Peripheral is pretty low but had high moments. This stuff is pretty low consistently hoping the album has my vocal dynamics
Yea the instrumentals are incredible, and the low vocals do sort of fit the chill vibe im getting from the record
Glad this isn't peripheral version pt 2.. this will be a great summer night album.. can't wait for the rest
I think I'm on track to love this record even more than I loved Peripheral Vision - something I really didn't think was gonna happen!
Okay, the new song is great. Definitely feels like this album is going to be a little slower and chilled. Love the last minute or so of this in particular. I got an I Would Hate You vibe from this song's ending.
I don't think this will come close to PV for me, but it still has a great chance to be one of my favorite releases of the year. I'm really hoping there's more variety than we've seen in the first two songs.
I'm confused, he's singing higher in this song than the last, and it's honestly the first thing i noticed about this one. I like this one more on initial impression than I did Super Natural, my only qualm is that the chord progression (especially the lead guitar) sounds pretty similar to Change Irreversible.
Bring on the weird with this record. Music nerdy stuff but does anyone hear a bit of the major pentatonic scale in the opening riff?
The new song is pretty cool. It sounds different enough to distinguish it from PV and even Super Natural, but it's not a huge departure either. It's exactly the type of song I was hoping for from this record. I'm even more excited for the full release now.
With both this and Super Natural I was super underwhelmed initially but the more I listen the more I enjoy them.
I like this song a lot and liked the first song a lot too. As I've listened to them more and more recently I've kind of come to the conclusion that, for me at least, they're the only band that's gone and done this mellowed out chill sound and also somehow managed to make the songs feel energetic and not boring. It's one of the things I've been most impressed with them about. Looking forward to the full release more and more.
