I don't get the "Pure Devotion" hype. I like it, but it's not the best on the album. My favorites have become "Breeze", "Nightlight Girl" and "Super Natural". That being said, I didn't get TOO into this record since it's really a summer record but it was overshadowed by Neck Deep, Counterparts and Seaway all releasing albums in that 5ish week time frame.
I still listen to this once a day lmao. I usually play it at work in the morning too. Perfect morning coffee shop record.
I really like this album and still listen to it a lot. I don’t connect with it quite the way I still do with PV, but that’s an unfair standard.
Good Nature is definitely “good” but it doesn’t feel quite as powerful as PV. I’m not saying that PV is peak songwriting by any band, but even listening to it now, it feels like a million different feelings hitting me at once and you can tell the emotions behind most of the songs. If that makes sense. It just feels...different
Thats how I feel about Good Nature and especially the song Bonnie. Now all I can hear is rhythm and melody in my ears It sounds like it feels All the time now I'm balancing perfectly In between awake and a dream When I hear that I'm like yeah thats how it feels thats what falling for someone is like.
Damn I had never put two and two together regarding Bonnie but yeah thats really what it does feel like
Also my gf doesnt like turnover (she doesnt dislike them, just doesnt listen to them) and only really knows/likes Dizzy on the Comedown. But she can always tell when I’m listening to Turnover because it all sounds the same to her, but yesterday I caught her secretly singing Hello Euphoria and felt like that was a pretty big win
"we have teamed up with Crooked Run Brewing to create Sunshine Type an IPA with pineapple, mango, guava, vanilla, and lactose. they will be releasing it at both of their taprooms in Sterling and Leesburg Virginia this friday. pick one up before it runs out."
Nightlight Girl is kind of in the Bonnie vein in that regard. Definitely felt exactly what he's saying in that song before. "Love when you’re loving who you are Your bones have curves Your skin’s got lines And that’s the way that you were designed" If you've ever loved someone that doesn't always value themselves enough it really sucks.
Good show last night. Seemed like a short set, didnt include an encore even though the band made a statement about how this was their fav show of the tour/fav show theyve played in dc. It was a fairly big crowd that generally enjoyed and sung along to Good Nature songs, but the PV songs got the biggest reaction and were obviously the most confident performances of the evening as well. The GN songs simply dont translate well live. I think its a combination of the drums keeping the same beat throughout the whole song and Austin's subdued vocal delivery— shit was just boring at times. Someone screamed Sasha from the crowd at some point and I actually felt I could agree. They definitely should throw in some bangers in their set, or at least make alt-versions of the GN songs to resonate more at shows. edit: What was cool was that it was a bigger show and an obviously bigger budget than last time I saw them--the stage featured a collage of televisions of different sizes displaying repeating nostalgic and trippy visuals. They have a lot of potential and could do great things if they take the next creative step on their later projects, utilizing the energy of their past efforts with the atmosphere of the new stuff imo.
Same. Saw them Thursday and it was pretty lame. Very unenthused performance. Love good nature on record but those songs are a huge bummer live. They also didn’t play an encore.
