I promise you, if you were in a band, hearing people scream the title of your songs would excite you so much you'd shed a tear every single time.
If I was in a band that had a set list that was created before we played, I would most definitely be annoyed. I know how I would feel.
Gonna see these guys for the first time tonight finally. Every other time that I’ve tried going something ended up happening that prevented it. I wish they’d play Diazepam, but I know better than that
Show was really fun in my opinion, and Pure Devotion might become my new favorite song by them because of it. The songs from PV were definitely the more fun ones and the crowd was way more into them. Sucks that they didnt play an encore though
You could feel the energy being sucked out of the room whenever they played a song from Good Nature. It has to be depressing for them.
I know this is an old post, but I completely disagree. There are plenty of "amp in a box" drive pedals that they could use to achieve the Magnolia tone through their current equipment.
Seeing them again tuesday. That was the case with the last time i saw em too. Feels like theyre totally not confident playing the new material tbh.
They do seem to have scaled the new stuff back in the setlists a little, it's now a pretty even mix with PV, which I think it a better shout than their UK tour which was very Good Nature heavy.
I like Real Estate a lot, especially Days, but in my opinion they keep recycling their sound for diminishing returns. At least Turnover has produced a more varied catalog.
all of real estate's records have had similar sounds but totally different moods. they're also far better songwriters than turnover.
I wonder if thats the case for all of their other shows too. If anyone goes and notices anything, please post and let me know lol
Also i still think its real dickish to have fans chanting one more song for close to three minutes and not even come out to play or say thank you or anything. If you really wanted to stick to your setlist, then just leave the last song as an encore to make everyone happy at the end
People at the NJ show were super receptive to the good nature songs, everyone was just singing along until they played Take My Head, then the crowd went off for the remainder of the show
i mean, if the house music goes on, the show is over. encores are bullshit, it's either planned or not
The thing is that the music didn’t start playing, and it felt like the house lights stayed off for like three minutes. It’s not that big of a deal, but it was disappointing
