Finally got through this. It's fine. Absolutely no surprises here, and I think Peripheral Vision, despite all of its flaws, is a better record. The songwriting feels like it took a step back? Tones and production are great and the lyrics are certainly improved, but nothing really stayed with me after one listen.
Hmm i thought this was actually my least favorite lyrically. Nothing really original and I might even say lazy. Took a few listens for the songs to separate themselves in my head but I've been listening to this almost nonstop now.
The cover is great but starting PV by calling out their album cover is even better. This was a step in a good direction for them but after a couple listens this is getting cataloged in with music I listen to when I wanna space out.
Can confirm this is a perfect record to listen to while smoking outside in the middle of the night and staring at the moon.
My favourites so far are definitely Sunshine Type, Butterfly Dream, Breeze and Bonnie. But there really isn't a bad song on the record, although I'd say Living Small is the weakest. Breeze really crept up on me as a favourite.
Butterfly Dream is probably my favorite song released this year. I love Turnover, and I feel like it is them doing what they do best. I didn't know I wanted happy Turnover, but man, I can't imagine it any other way now.
Seeing these guys in Birmingham on Friday. Absolutely cannot wait. Always so good and there should be positive vibes.
I think they said that it did in the initial press release. Pure Devotion especially has a real bossa nova feel to it
