If I was in a band people cared about and my album leaked I'd make it available on bandcamp right away
Every time I go to listen to PV I'm pretty sure I just want to listen to "Humming" 12 times. What a perfectly written pop song, my goodness. A hell of a bridge to boot
Just opened my vinyl and it's probably one of the most beautifully designed packaging artwork I own (and it sounds amazing), however... the vinyl sleeve/lyric page doesn't fit in the gatefold slot. It was packed separate and would not fit when I tried to put it together. Does anyone else have this problem? I guess it will have to live in a plastic sleeve.
Even after everything that's gone on in the last two weeks, I'm still jamming this pretty consistently. It's sitting pretty solid at #3 on my running top ten of the year and I imagine it'll fall right around the top five when the year is over. These guys create a mood better than pretty much any of their contemporaries.
Pretty excited for my pink/green vinyl to turn up. Haven't span this record in what feels like weeks, but in reality has only been one.
I've been listening to this album while driving people around a lot (I work for Lyft), and it's a really pleasant listen. I think it's really interesting from a melodic standpoint, but there's something about the drums on the record that's holding it back for me. Seems like a really weird complaint to have, but it's something that gnaws at me every time I listen to it.
Yeah, lol I think that's pretty much it. Didn't register as it being "the same beat" but I definitely thought it was basically the drummer playing the most obvious beat he could muster up. I think this album could have really been elevated by a better-suited/more creative drummer. It doesn't help that the drums are mixed very prominently on the record either, they're almost the first thing I notice (which would be awesome if they didn't bother me lol). I'm dreaming of a drummer with a jazz background taking on this record.
Great follow up to PV. Lighter tone is a welcome contrast, it's just as catchy (if not catchier) and the lyrics are more mature/insightful. Definitely a progression of the vibe of Humming.
I think the guitars are doing so much that he wanted to take a super straight forward approach and just make things feel good.
Eh, I guess I can understand that, but I don't personally think it feels good lol. I feel like what the rest of the band is doing is too dangerously close to being same-y for the drums to be doing basically the same thing throughout the album. I also think that, if that's the case, then maybe they shouldn't have mixed the drums so prominently (or maybe they just seem loud to me bc they bother me? Idk).
Given it a few listens through now and while I don't think it's better than PV, I didn't expect it to be. That album is just so magical and special to me and came out of nowhere to completely surprise me. Good Nature is very good though, even if it makes the band's sound a bit formulaic. There's definitely a ton of ear worms on this album and it's just a very enjoyable listen.
the chorus in Bonnie get's me everytime, love it. Now all I can hear is rhythm and melody in my ears It sounds like it feels All the time now I'm balancing perfectly In between awake and a dream
Not listened to a great deal of Turnover, but this album is really chilled - big fan. Probably gunna have to really dive into the rest of their stuff now as well...
My pink and green vinyl of this came today, really badly damaged. White burns all over the disc with chalky residue everywhere. Peeved. Sighhhh
This is good. A nice, relaxing album. Don't see myself falling in love with it, but it'll be good to throw on when I'm in the mood.
I have this exact problem, in addition to the fact the vinyl is covered in white acid burns/scars. Not sure how all that's happened but that's bloody annoying.
