This all the way. Even here, most are claiming this record blends together into one and some are finding it hard to differentiate songs. I bloody love Good Nature, and I played it through roughly 20 or so times before the new BN came out. It's gorgeous, lush and catchy as it gets. But BN's release is more exciting and varied to me. In terms of nothing else competing, BN has this enormous support, especially here of all places. It should come as no surprise that Turnover might not get as much attention right now. That's not to rip on the quality of GN, it's just a given.
Haha yeah I was one of those people a few days ago but coming around hard on it now. This is also just super easy to listen to which I probably why I'm playing it so much. BN is more emotionally exhausting so I can't bring myself to listen to it more than once a day.
I've played GN so many times...but Pure Devotion may have been on repeat one of those days. All day haha. Definitely. Good Nature had me bouncing around in floral shirts. BN's release had me lying in bed in the dark. I know which I'll turn to when I need cheering up haha!
If we must speak on it... It's a real chore to get through and find the good parts, a very boring album. I'm sure some people will say the same for this one, but then again I didnt wait 8 years for this. Boom. Roasted, bitchezzzzz
i get not wanting to talk about the BN record, but the majority of this website really like them (understatement) and when you wait 8 years for an album that finally comes out, it kind of weaves itself into most of your thoughts concerning music, especially albums that come out around the same time, as unfair as that is. i love both.
It was relevant discussion in a social forum about music. Feel free to bring up any other band! Your opinions on it being boring are just as valid as everybody else's saying otherwise too, and the same for this album. It's all good. Not sure why you have to make it some argumentative thing about 'roasting' folk.
I'm still dying waiting to listen to Good Nature though. I'm too lazy for leaks (except the Brand New leak lol) so I'm stuck waiting until Friday (or until my vinyl shows up).
It was seriously just laziness. It's so much easier to just wait until it's on Apple Music than try to get it on my phone myself (apparently I'm technological impaired). I got the half pink/half green splatter (I think). Should sound beautiful. PV is one of my favorite albums on vinyl. It gives the best vibes.
Roasting comment was a joke lol but i see why people would be sensitive to that. With that said, i dont think brand new needs to be the main topic of conversation in several different threads at once. Thats why topics are separated into threads in the first place. Im not going to bring up Radiohead in a Turnover thread or bring up Young Thug in a Brand New thread
Me too! Such a cool variant! Yeah, I don't have much memory on my phone as it is, so the second it's up for streaming I'll bung it off my phone and have at it with Spotify!
Fair point. Funny you should say that though - Radiohead, Kanye West, Kendrick, Manchester Orchestra, Julien Baker, Thrice, Paramore and a hell of a lot more are all mentioned in the Brand New forums. It's just conversation. But I see what you're saying. I personally don't come here often and have only ever seen them mentioned a couple of times. But hey, GN is out soon so focus on that.
I'm mostly angsty because the BN fandom annoys me half to death, though I've always considered them a pretty good band-- esp considering I grew up with them, I'm from Long Island, etc... it's the fan base that ruins it for me. The new album disappointed me though, not saying its a terrible release, but just not to my tastes/expected better. The fandom kinda ruined it for me too. Tbh If we spoke about any of those other music acts you mentioned, I probably wouldn't take it as seriously haha
I'm a big fan of how the vinyl matches the album cover. Very excited. I might actually wait to listen first on vinyl (assuming I get it by friday night).
Brand New and Turnover couldn't be 2 more different bands. I love both these new albums for different reasons. Anyways on to Turnover, I don't get the comments that this sounds samey, I can maybe see it after 1 listen, but after multiple listens, they definitely have their distinct vibe, especially in the chorus's. And my deluxe vinyl shipped which I am hyped about.
I got the shipping confirmation for my vinyl preorder a few hours ago, so excited! I've only heard the singles so far.
