Dude does sound the exact same in every song though, which is fine I guess, but I have to be in the mood. This band to me is kind of like, I love the songs and the sound - but I’m not in love with the band.
Yeah, I'm not sure I understand that complaint. Maybe I'm just setting too low of a bar, but I think his melodies are much more varied than on PV and after 3 listens I certainly don't think he's doing the same thing on every track.
You are the only person I have ever known to reference them on this site. I forget the name of the album with the kids on the front in sepia, but mannn that album had some wicked songs on.
that band was quite weird, had some buzz and they changed their sound a few times over their records. their first record was literally TDS worship, second record found them find a groove under more of a transit indie/emo thing, and the last one was them trying to go more groovy dancy indie rock but the album wasn't great. solid band though, saw them on the from indian lakes able bodies tour years and years ago this is their best song though. what a jam
It's throughout the whole song, but especially in that breathy, stop-start vocal melody in the last 2 lines of each verse.
i'm trying to decide if this is the best real estate album to come out this year, it's close, definitely.
Meant to share my thoughts on this yesterday but the Brand New mayhem kinda got in the way. Not sure if someone else said it but this record is blissful to me and contrast the feel and emotions I got from PV so well. I had a smile on my face throughout a good chunk of the record because I was so excited that this follow up is actually living up to the hype I've felt for the past few months
Don't want to derail from the thread, but yeah, totally underrated band, Haze deserved more IMO. On their facebook they said they were writing new tunes. Who knows if it actually comes to fruition. Bummed I never saw them in person, only Matt acoustic at Warped once.
The melodies in this are absolutely crushing, I don't know how anyone can hear songs like Pure Devotion and Butterfly Dream and not feel emotion. Love this album.
Bonnie is my favorite track on this thing. The album losses me a bit on the two tracks before Bonnie though.
Very into Butterfly Dreams, Curiosity, Pure Devotion, and All That It Ever Was. Also Super Natural has been the one that gets stuck in my head the most, which is a little surprising to me.
