I can’t believe it’s 2017 and everybody still wants to talk about Brand New.

Giving it a first listen now! I love how this album sounds, I just wish the vocals were a little higher and not sometimes drowned out.

It's not hitting me instantly like PV, but now that I think of it PV hit me hard weeks after my initial listen. I'm sure this will do the same.

I mean...it's been eight years since an album. It kinda stands to reason that them finally announcing their last album would be a big deal.

But yeah, maybe keep that in the relevant thread! There's not much crossover from what I've seen.

I bloody love this album. I think I actually prefer it to PV. I love the vibes, the instrumentation and vocals are markedly better, and it's so damn catchy.

I don't think it's as immediate and I think it's a little weirder, but I think I like it more

I definitely got swept up by the Brand New hype yesterday and therefore only gave this one spin, but I'm on listen 2 so far for today. I'm almost surprised by how much I'm enjoying it. I've always liked PV, but never loved it, and this is almost immediately a "love" for me.

I find myself picking and choosing tracks with PV. Namely Hello Euphoria, Dizzy, Take My Head and I Would Hate You. With this album, I just play the whole thing.

Surprised people are liking this more than PV. PV was my album of the year in 2015 and I don't even know if this will hit my top 10. Feel a little disappointed with this one. Still like it but nowhere near PV.

I think this is much more consistent album than PV, but I'm not sure if there is a track on here that I like more than Cutting My Fingers Off or Dizzy On The Comedown. Maybe Pure Devotion. And of course that could change with time.

Overall, though, I think this album takes everything I like about PV and makes it better.

This is a very lazy album in the sense that every song really kinda blended together. Was perfect for me sleeping on a train to NYC but outside of a few melodies I don't find myself returning to it much.

same as the last one in that regard. record works well if you're in a specific mood or want to put yourself in a specific mood but it's not a record you'll really get anything substantial out of.

Curious what you like about PV that you don't like about this one? I've seen a couple comments that feel the opposite of you, but not many feel the same as you so far.

Yup. Pure zone out music for me. Pleasant, but couldn't imagine getting super into it. The vocalist does the same thing on every song

I actually think the same of PV. I seriously love some of the songs on it, but still can't remember a lot of that album.

Lyrics are much better on the new material. Even though I find myself feeling really nostalgic listening to PV, like I can remember what I was like in my early 20s and it captures it well

PV is a personal album for me, I have a lot of memories attached to it so I may just be biased. I personally love every song off it. I don't think I've skipped New Scream once over the past 2 years if it comes up on shuffle. The A side of the record is incredibly catchy. The B side changes the feel of the album. I've shown countless people PV who don't listen to bands in this scene and they love it. This feels like the same sound dragged out to the point where songs don't feel very different from each other. They caught lightning in a bottle with PV when bands in the scene were all trying to separate from each other's sound. I thought Turnover did the best job with that transition. This feels like a natural progression but I think the lyrics and vocals aren't as strong or captivating this time around.

I agree that PV is great, it's my most listened to album since it came out. I'll also echo that they made the transition away from pop punk better than most, and that I show people PV that don't like most bands from this "scene" and they tend to like it a good bit.

i feel like your complaints about the the new album translate to PV well. While i love the album, the first couple times i listened it all ran together. Even now looking at it critically, i understand that most of the songs sound the same, with Austin singing in the same register for most of the album and even some of the melodies sounding similar between songs. I think some of those same complaints apply to GN, but if you were okay with it on PV, i dont know why that would change on GN.

although i do think this one is more varied. i think the best example is going from Butterfly Dream and Curiosity. i dont think anything about the vocals on those songs sound similar, and then you have songs like All That I Ever Was and Living Small that sound different from anything Turnover has done before. I'm not saying im going to convince you otherwise though, i hope you give it more time.

I do like it, I think it'll stick with me more once I have the record. All That I Ever Was is probably my least favorite off of Good Nature. Not a big fan on the delivery of the lyrics. I don't see myself liking this as much as I liked PV in the long term. I try not to over hype albums especially in this scene but for me it was hard not to really anticipate this because of how much I love PV. I'm hoping I end up loving it, just my initial listens to it has me feeling a bit off about it. I really like Super Natural, Sunshine Type, Breeze, and Bonnie. I'm sure the instrumentation will sound excellent on vinyl. Also need to try listening to it in a different state of mind too haha.

It definitely is a different state of mind, fortunately one i can relate to more than i could PV. i think having the lyrics in front of me while listening will help this grow. i think all that i ever was is one of my least favorites too.

I feel like this is more varied than PV ever was. I loved parts of PV, others sort of blended in and I've forgotten. Maybe it's because this is fresh, but each song stands out far more with GN. They've taken their sound to some really interesting places with this. I can't stop listening.
