Haha, I'm mostly just trolling teebs since there's no point in comparing those two records, but I do wholeheartedly think that.
I concur haha. But I never liked that album to begin with. This album is absolute bliss to me. I haven't been this happy with an album in ages. What a fun, chill ride. It did, much like PV, blend into one on first listen, but I'm so excited to comb through it again and again. They've really upped their game here...it's familiar, but enough of a departure to feel fresh and exciting for me. Loving the positive vibes. PV and GN are like sisters, in my opinion. Bloody love this.
Haha yea the two records couldn't be more different. I will say that this has a chance of being in my top 10, I will need a lot of listens though.
2017 hasn't been a spectacular year of music for me. I've found myself only really listening to my favourite albums from last year really. Nothing this year has peaked my interest all that much. This album is a redeemer for me, and if ever Brand New pull their finger out, there'll be something else to freak out over.
First listen of PV I enjoyed immediately but it did kind of blur together for me back then. I've since become more familiar with i and it doesn't anymore at all but on first pass I could see it doing that. This one didn't that all for me. The album flows from one song to the next but doesn't blend or blur in any way. It's just incredible.
Glad there are a few faster driving tracks on here too. Was worried it would all be slower burners. curiousity uses major 7 chords beautifully. This band has stepped up their game instrumentally so much here.
The guitar tones on this album are freaking incredible. I like they ditched some of the reverb, allows the guitar melodies to shine more
I reaaaaaaaaaaaaally want to hear this but I also really want ot wait till I get my preorder/release day. less than two weeks, I think I can do it
oh dang, why didnt i check here over the weekend? stuck at work all day knowing you guys are hearing this.
I've not, no! I'm not even sure I've listened to anything by them. I vaguely remember an album with a pizza on the front? Or am I being daft with that?
This is such a guitar record ha, two main themes 7th and 9th chords all over this thing. And there's a lot of them playing with the major pentatonic scale with the lead guitars. Also never thought they would write a song like "all that it ever was"
The vocal melodies here are fantastic, I have to consider them a step up from PV objectively even though they don't personally reel me in as much yet. They all feel differentiated too, there's no problem like with PV where three songs all had similar verses.
ok yeah, curiosity is my favorite on here i'm very curious to see which ones the punk kids are into at shows at all
The only song I'm not as sold on right now is Nightlight Girl On a side note, can't believe I ever thought Super Natural was meh
Alright I need to dive into these lyrics but they are much better than PV, not as rhyme reliant.. This album may actually pull me away from black mile for a significant amount of time
